Overall Summary

Sunset enters the 2026 season coming off of a 6A state championship. The Apollos will have big shoes to fill after the departure of two-time reigning Prep Baseball Oregon Player of the Year and first round draft pick LHP/1B Kruz Schoolcraft. However, Sunset still returns enough pieces to be one of the best 6A sides in Oregon this spring. Senior RHP and Mt. Hood CC commit Parker Raubuch returns after leading the team in innings a season ago. Raubuch was as reliable as anyone, logging 56.1 IP to a 2.61 ERA. Junior RHP Riley Via should also help in a big way to fill the pitching void as an impact transfer arm. Offensively, senior INF and East Texas Baptist commit Luke Sullivan is the leading hitter of all returning players. Sullivan should slot near the top of the lineup and provide a steady glove up the middle. Sophomore INF Marcus Pollard is poised to take a big step forward as a top ten ranked player in Oregon's '28 class. Senior Cole Sauter is another key returner in the middle of the order with quality center field defense. Sunset will also look to players with more limited experience to contribute at the varsity level, including sophomore Kayden Dabbs and junior Liam Heaphy. Head coach John Barnes is circling games against West Linn, Ridgeview and Jesuit as games to watch this spring. Expect the Apollos to be a strong 6A side once again in their quest for back to back state titles.
