Pike Road (9) vs. Auburn (5)
Pike Road earned a 9-5 win over Auburn on Friday, using a six-run fifth inning to take control. Pike Road opened the scoring in the first inning on an RBI single from Diego Pacheco, while Auburn answered to tie it in the bottom half. The Patriots regained the lead in the second on an RBI double by Quinton Robinson, but Auburn responded again in the third, taking a 3-2 advantage on a home run to center by Lawson Hare. The game turned in the top of the fifth, when Pike Road erupted for six runs on six hits. Herbert Reyes delivered the biggest swing of the inning with a two-run double, helping the Patriots flip the game and build an 8-4 lead they wouldn’t surrender. Gunner Gibbs earned the win on the mound, while Bryson Suchocki recorded the save. Pike Road finished with 12 hits, with Pacheco and Gibbs each driving in two runs, while Reyes added a multi-hit performance in the win.
UMS-Wright Prep (8) vs. Orange Beach (2)
UMS-Wright Prep rode a dominant outing from Ty Waters to an 8-2 win over Orange Beach on Friday. Waters struck out 12 over 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and two runs while earning the win. Orange Beach got on the board early in the first with a triple from Ward Hickman and a run scoring on a wild pitch, but UMS-Wright answered immediately in the bottom half. RBI hits from Waters, Samuel Davis, and Colby Weaver sparked a four-run inning to give the Bulldogs the lead for good. UMS-Wright finished with 10 hits in the game, with Waters, Mack Keaton, and Weaver each collecting two. Waters also drove in two runs, while the Bulldogs played a clean game defensively without committing an error. Brayden Hood and James Nuetze led Orange Beach with two hits apiece in the loss.
American Christian (5) vs. Northridge (4)
American Christian earned a 5-4 walk-off win over Northridge on Friday night. The Patriots jumped out early, as Hunter Elmore launched a two-run home run in the first and Drew Turner added a run on a sacrifice bunt in the second to make it 3-0. Northridge battled back throughout the game and tied things at 4-4 in the top of the seventh behind run-producing at-bats from John Pruet and Mayson Elam. In the bottom of the seventh, ACA delivered the final blow, as Brandon Garth came through with a walk-off single to secure the win. Elmore turned in a strong start on the mound, working 6.2 innings while allowing four runs (three earned) with four strikeouts. Offensively, Elmore and Garth each drove in two runs, with Garth leading the way with three hits. Jaylen Crocker and Hudson McComb also added multi-hit performances in the win. Elam paced Northridge with two hits, while Pruet, Elam, and Wyatt Rath each drove in a run.
