Illinois Class of 2029 Rankings Update
March 12, 2026
After a long off-season and vigorous preseason circuit, we are finally updating our class of 2029 rankings. Not only are we updating the order, we also expanded the list from just five names to now 30. Plenty of players showed well for themselves this off-season with jumps in the rankings to show for it, along with numerous prospects jumping onto our radar.
For a look at the updated rankings, continue reading below.
The Top-10
+ The top-three remains the same in this update, with SS/RHP Paris Head (Lane Tech), INF Todd Dulaney Jr. (Nazareth) and C Terrell Hampton Hall (De La Salle) in that order.
+ OF/LHP Charlie Kohman (Downers Grove North) is making his debut at No. 4, looking to have made some significant strides since the summer. He was one we already liked, with his high-ceiling and smooth left-handed swing, and he’s starting to grow into his 6-foot, 180-pound frame. The strength is becoming apparent in his left-handed swing with mid-90s exit velocities, and it’s a clean operation that you can dream on. He’s also in the low-80s on the mound from the left-side, adding just another layer to his prospect status.

+ C Chase Estrada (New Trier) is one of the more physical prospects on this list, and he’s making his debut in the ranking at No. 5. Listed at a proportionate 6-foot, 190-pounds, Estrada swings a heavy barrel with real power upside, showing natural feel to elevate the baseball with an intentful, yet controlled swing (T95 mph EV). He’s also an advanced defender for his age with a 1.98 pop-time and 76 mph arm from the chute.
+ RHP/OF Cylis Rainey (Mount Carmel) firmly established himself as one of the top two-way prospects in the state after his showing at All-State, landing him at No. 6 in this update. The 6-foot, 185-pound right-hander showed a clean, athletic operation on the mound with a fastball up to 87 mph, pairing with a slider he could throw for strikes and a sinking changeup. At the plate, he showed a loose and balanced swing with feel for the barrel (T96 mph EV), pairing with a 7.08 in the 60 and 91 mph arm from the outfield.

+ Coming in at No. 8 is RHP Theo Schroedter (DePaul College Prep) after an electric showing at All-State. The arm is quick and whippy from a higher ¾ slot, creating a fastball up to 87 mph with indications of more jumps in the near future with his movement patterns and 91 mph max from the outfield. He has an advanced, dynamic four-pitch arsenal that also features a curveball, changeup and a cutter - giving him an assortment of options to bully hitters.

+ OF/RHP Mason Koth (Jacobs) is yet another member of our Junior Future Games team from this past summer cracking the list, and he’s making his debut at No. 9 in this update. There’s some present physicality in his 6-foot-2, 182-pound frame, but he still holds room for physical development in the coming years. The tools are loud across the board right now with a peak exit velocity of 97 mph, a 7.02 in the 60 and 86 mph arm from the outfield - but he’s also a proven in-game performer. He’s no slouch on the mound either with a fastball that works into the low-80s.
