Everything high school baseball related will be on the GHSA tab on our website. It can be found HERE. This will include the Power 25, Classification Rankings, weekly scout blogs and more.

Today, we are going to introduce a new piece of content called the “Daily Round Up”. Here we will take a look at the games our scouts went to from the previous day and highlight key moments, standout players and our takeaways from the game.

Tuesday

Sprayberry @ Woodstock

Score: Woodstock win, 10-1

Standouts:

Caleb Vigna, OF, 2028, Woodstock

Leo Guollo, 3B, 2028, Woodstock

Truett Hardy, RHP/MIF, Woodstock

Ethan May, 2B, 2026, Woodstock

Key moments: The Wolverines jumped out to an early lead in the first behind an RBI knock from Ethan May and Brayden Bially with Caleb Vigna tacking on two RBI’s in the first as well. As they led 5-0 after the first inning. Woodstock piled on more runs in the 3rd inning with a double from Leo Guollo, RBI single from Truett Hardy, and - 2-run HR from Caleb Vigna. Making it 9-0 after 3 innings as they went on for the run-rule 10-1 win after 5 ½ innings.

Avery’s Takeaway: It was a good look at the Wolverines to open region-play in a 10-1 victory. This is a well-coached and scrappy bunch 1-9 as they all seemed to contribute to the run-rule victory. A standout performance from 2028 OF Caleb Vigna paced the offense with 4 RBI’s, a double and a homerun. This is a talented blend of upperclass and underclass talent that is going to battle at the plate on a nightly basis and if the pieces on the mound come together this could be a sleeper team to watch in region 6-5A. Sprayberry had knocks from 2027 2B Mason Bolick, 2028 OF Will Bouchard, 2028 3B Ryan King, and 2026 SS Colton Clearman as a deep underclass group looks to gain invaluable experience this season.

Model @ Darlington

Score: Darlington win, 10-1

Standouts:

Thomas Hargett, 3B, 2027, Darlington

Wilson Lucas, OF, 2028, Darlington

Braxton Stegall, 3B, 2026, Darlington

Brantley Patch, SS/RHP, 2027, Model

Key Moments: The Tigers took control early with tremendous two-strike hitting alongside aggressive base running that helped take an early 4-0 lead after an inning. Wilson Lucas and Braxton Stegall showed the clutch gene throughout the night while both provided multiple RBI knocks for Darlington.

Ian’s Takeaway: The top of the lineup for Darlington puts a ton of pressure on opposing clubs in multiple ways. Sophomore SS Knox Merritt is a spark-plug profile in the leadoff spot with high on-base skills and plus speed that shows often on the bases. The trio of Jackson Loy, Thomas Hargett and Henry Ledbetter provide quality hit/power combos that slot in right behind and give the Tigers a chance to put up crooked numbers often. Cooper Norris returns as the top arm for Darlington and the pitchability he offers is a tone setter for this club. Strung together 7 K over 6.0 one-run IP while avoiding loud contact throughout. Excellent way to open region play for the Tigers, who hold some higher expectations after a .500 season a year ago.

Score: North Hall wins, 7-1

Standouts:
Branson Crawford, UTL, 2026, North Hall

Joab Bolton, C, 2028, North Hall

Ty Kemp, OF, 2026, North Hall

Key Moments:
Branson Crawford set the tone early on both sides of the ball. He had a solo home run in the 3rd to get the early lead. The Spartans would fight back with a Jared Givins barrel up the middle for an RBI. The Trojans got a couple runner on in the 5th and Custis Honeycutt hit a ball to deep right that the OF’er misplayed and that would give North Hall the lead. Joab Bolton then came up with a big swing to bring in 2 more runs to make it 4-1. Crawford tossed a shutdown inning with 2 strikeouts in the 6th. In the final innings at the plate for the Trojans Kenny Foudy, Ty Kemp, Eyen Etris and Custis Honeycutt all had barrels to stretch the lead and make it a 7-1 game to open up region play.

Hudson’s Takeaways: I have probably seen Branson Crawford more than any other player in the state and it never gets old. The kid competes with some emotion that is always fun to watch. My takeaways from North Hall are that they have a young, but hungry line up that could really make some noise this year. Thomas Davis had a quiet day, but swung the bat well with 3 barrels at the plate. They are getting a couple players healthy, but when they do they could really get rolling. All eyes turn towards next week's series against Pickens. Coach Flow and the Trojans will be up for the challenge and will look to make a run in the 3A playoffs down the road.
