PB South Alabama Showdown: Scout Blog
March 3, 2026
GULF SHORES, AL - The PB South Alabama Showdown delivered a loaded slate of early-season matchups, and our staff was on hand throughout the weekend to get eyes on some of the state’s top programs and prospects. With a strong mix of established upperclass talent and emerging underclass names, the event provided an ideal setting to evaluate in-game performance against quality competition. From impact arms setting the tone on the mound to middle-of-the-order bats producing in key moments, the Showdown offered a comprehensive look at players trending upward this spring. Below, you’ll find our running Scout Blog notes from the weekend, featuring standout performers, detailed evaluations, and video from our stops along the Gulf Coast.
+ C John Stowers (St. Paul’s Episcopal, 2026) continues to validate his reputation as one of the premier left-handed bats in the country, picking up right where he left off after launching four home runs in his first four games of the season. The Auburn recruit and two-time Prep Baseball All-American reached base in four of five plate appearances in this look, finishing 1-for-2 with three walks, two of them intentional, as opposing staffs were careful not to give him much to hit. His loudest swing came early with a two-strike single ripped into right field, and from that point on he saw very little in the zone. The left-handed swing works on-plane with a natural uphill path and intent through contact, producing some of the most authoritative exit in the state. The power plays from foul pole to foul pole, and the overall offensive presence continues to stand out at a national level.
