NOTABLE RECAPS FROM THURSDAY

Park City (0) vs. #10 Desert Hills (10)

The Desert Hills Varsity Thunder delivered a powerhouse performance to secure a commanding 10–0 victory over the Park City Varsity Miners, fueled by a nearly perfect showing on both sides of the ball. The charge was spearheaded by Harmon Skeen, who was absolutely untouchable on the mound, throwing a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts, while also leading the offense with a home run and a double. Isaac Swanson was a force at the plate as well, falling just a home run short of the cycle with a double and a triple, while Asher Williams and Boston Shaffer showed incredible grit by reaching base consistently and driving in key runs. Despite the tough score, the Miners showed resilience behind a base hit from Cole Hill and a hard-fought pitching effort from Jack Gallagher, who struck out five in relief. It was a stellar team win for the Thunder, showcasing their speed on the basepaths with multiple steals from Brock Graf and Asher Williams to keep the pressure on from start to finish.

In a hard-fought defensive struggle, Dixie managed to edge out the Maple Mountain Varsity Golden Eagles for a narrow 2–1 victory. The game was a true pitcher's duel, as Kavyn Carter was nearly untouchable for the Golden Eagles, surrendering only two hits and striking out five in a complete-game-caliber effort. However, Dixie showed incredible resilience by capitalizing on their limited opportunities, fueled by hits from #24 and #19 to cross the plate twice. The Golden Eagles' offense was spearheaded by Jeremiah Hall, who collected two hits including a double, and Hayden Hyatt, who also doubled to keep the pressure on. Despite a late push that saw Mitch Walker drive in a run and Nash Ferguson show off his speed with two stolen bases, Dixie’s pitching—led by a strong six-inning start from McGuire—remained composed to secure the win.
