Pascal Paul
State Director, Prep Baseball Nebraska

On Monday, Feburary 16, Prep Baseball Nebraska held its Preseason ID-Omaha at the Elkhorn Training Camp in Elkhorn. The event featured prospects from the class of 2027 through 2029. The event featured many solid performances from the players in attendance showing off their off-season gains.

Today, we are taking a look at some of the players that stood out to our scouting staff, with reports and comments on their showings, below.

QUICK HITS

Jett Havlat RHP / 1B / Bellevue West, NE / 2028

Thick, strong 6-foot, 197-pound prospect with solid tempo and direction down the mound. Ran his fastball up to 86 mph. Also showed notable power at the plate, recording the second-highest exit velocity of the day at 98.6 mph.

Brett Langan 1B / RHP / Bennington High School, NE / 2027

Large-bodied first baseman with impact strength and top-end barrel power, posting an event-best 102.1 mph exit velocity. Still some rawness to the overall game, but the size and power projection are difficult to teach.

Gavin Christensen 2B / 3B / Millard South, NE / 2027

Displayed a well-rounded skill set with one of the most consistent offensive rounds of the event, driving balls to both gaps. Shows easy, controlled infield actions and plays well on the move. Long-term profile fits best at second base, with potential at third if additional strength is added.

Hunter Neukirch C / Lincoln Northeast High School, NE / 2026

Projectable 6-foot, 165-pound frame with room to add strength. Shows a strong, accurate arm behind the plate. Maintained a steady approach in the box, barreling balls at a high rate with an 83 percent sweet-spot rate and exit velocities ranging from 88.1 to 92.4 mph. A name worth following this spring for programs still looking to add catching depth.
