Cullen Scott may be the most impressive talent we saw all year, regardless of class. Not only did he hit jaw-dropping, tape-measure shots at our Midwest Premier Super 16 tournament, but he dominated on the mound as well. We heard a lot about Scott before seeing him in person, as his name was buzzing throughout our network after his NPI outing earlier in the summer where he reportedly topped out at 95 MPH.
When we finally got to see him work in person, the arm strength was very real. He topped out at 91 MPH while throwing straight into a 22 MPH wind that day. It’s hard to say whether we like him more in the box or on the mound, but the mid-90’s fastball at his age probably gives pitching a slight edge. Either way, we’re extremely excited to see what this next year has in store for Scott on both sides of the ball.
