The Prep Baseball Louisiana Diamond Notes serves as an opportunity for our staff to highlight players, from across the state, that put up impressive performances on a given week, yet fell short of our Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week honors.

Pitcher of the Week (Week 6)

Brock Trahan RHP / Sulphur, LA / 2028

Trahan turned in his most dominant outing of the spring last week for the Tors — an encouraging sign for Sulphur as district play hits the stretch run. The sophomore right-hander drew the start against Carencro last Saturday and was in complete control from the first pitch, firing a complete-game no-hitter with 0 walks and 8 strikeouts on just 80 pitches (74% strikes). His ability to relentlessly pound the zone and work efficiently allowed him to keep the Bears off balance all night while giving Sulphur a huge lift on the mound.

 

 

Player of the Week (Week 6)

Dominic Pellegrin SS / Holy Cross, LA / 2026

Dominic Pellegrin was absolutely locked in at the plate last week for Holy Cross. Across three games, the dynamic infielder went an eye-popping 7-for-8 (.875) with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and 2 stolen bases, impacting the game in every phase offensively. One of his biggest swings came last Tuesday against John Curtis Christian, when he led off the bottom of the 6th inning with a clutch solo home run to even the score. The Tigers rode that momentum the rest of the way, ultimately securing a hard-fought 4-3 victory.

 

 

Other Notable Performances (Week 6)

Connor Rushford OF / DeRidder, LA / 2026

Rushford hit at a .500 clip last week with a .615 on-base percentage and hit 3 doubles, 1 triple, and also stole 2 bases.

Bryce Melancon RHP / 1B / Breaux Bridge, LA / 2027

The junior right-hander earned the win last week against Livonia after tossing a complete-game allowing 0 runs with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.

 

Gavin Foster INF / Livonia, LA / 2027

Foster went 5-for-9 with a double, two singles, and 1 run batted in last week for Livonia in two district games against Breaux Bridge.

Beau Cormier LHP / 1B / Acadiana Renaissance Charter, LA / 2026

The senior southpaw earned the win last week over Southside after tossing a complete-game allowing 0 earned runs on 4 hits with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts.

Bradyn Cupit LHP / West Monroe, LA / 2026

The LSU recruit earned another win last week against Ouachita Christian after tossing 6 innings allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts.

Corey Bourgeois 3B / RHP / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2028

Bourgeois hit at a .625 clip last week with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 9 runs batted in, and 6 runs scored for the Terriers.

Spencer Guilbeau OF / RHP / Vandebilt Catholic, LA / 2026

The Nunez Community College recruit hit .692 last week with 2 home runs, 1 double, 8 runs batted in, 7 runs scored, and also stole 4 bases.

Weston Landry 3B / RHP / Sulphur, LA / 2028

The former Junior Future Gamer went 6-for-12 (.500) last week with a double, 4 runs batted in, and 2 stolen bases.

Alex Richardson RHP / SS / Belle Chasse, LA / 2026

The Southern Miss recruit was dominant again last week in the Cardinals win over Central Lafourche. Richardson tossed a complete game one-hit shutout with 18 strikeouts.

Hank Sauer Belle Chasse, LA / 2026

Sauer hit at a .455 clip with a .538 on-base percentage last week 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored.

Rahim Alem OF / 3B / Westgate, LA / 2028

Alem hit at a .778 clip last week for the Tigers with 1 home run, 1 double, 2 triples, 5 runs batted in, and 6 runs scored.

Aryo Fleming RHP / OF / Westgate, LA / 2026

Fleming finished last week with a .455 average, 1 double, 1 triple, and 6 runs scored with 10 stolen bases. He also went 1-0 with 1 save while striking out 11 over 8 innings pitched.

Landen Kennedy RHP / 3B / French Settlement, LA / 2028

The sophomore right-hander picked up wins against Northlake Christian and St. Thomas last week. Kennedy threw 12 innings in total with 4 walks and 15 strikeouts.

Jiazan Chanthavongsy RHP / Cecilia, LA / 2028

The sophomore right-hander earned the win against Beau Chene last week after tossing 6.1 innings allowing 0 earned runs on 5 hits with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts.

Kane Guitrau C / OF / St. Michael's, LA / 2028

Guitrau hit .538 with a .600 on-base percentage with 3 doubles, and 1 triple last week for the Warriors.

Jackson Yeager LHP / OF / Iota, LA / 2027

The junior southpaw tossed a complete game no-hitter against Jennings last week with 6 strikeouts.

Kaylor Broussard SS / RHP / Iota, LA / 2027

Broussard hit .429 last week with a double and 4 runs batted in. He also went 1-0 on the mound after tossing 6 shutout innings with 9 strikeouts against Church Point.

Reece Dommert LHP / 1B / Iota, LA / 2026

Dommert hit at a .714 clip last week with a grand slam, 3 doubles, 6 runs batted in, and 3 runs scored.

Myles Jones OF / New Iberia Senior High, LA / 2026

Jones went 6-for-11 (.545) with 1 home run, 3 runs batted in, and 3 runs scored for the Yellow Jackets last week.

Dalton Shirley OF / Sulphur, LA / 2028

Shirley went 7-for-14 (.500) with a double, 5 runs batted in, and also stole 2 bases for the Tors last week.

Bryson Hardy OF / Sulphur, LA / 2028

Hardy went 5-for-11 (.455) with 2 doubles, 4 runs batted in, and also swiped a base for the Tors last week.

Rance LeJeune SS / 2B / Iota, LA / 2028

LeJeune finished last week with a .750 average and a .889 on-base percentage. He scored 7 runs and also stole 2 bases.

Noah Pearson 2B / 3B / Caldwell Parish, LA / 2026

Pearson went 9-for-15 (.600) with a home run, 3 doubles, 12 runs batted in, and 9 runs scored last week.

Cole Trahan SS / Sulphur, LA / 2027

The uncommitted junior shortstop went 4-for-11 with a home run, a double, and also stole 2 bases.

Braden Sanders OF / Zachary, LA / 2026

The Grambling State recruit finished last week with a .667 average and .750 on-base percentage. Sanders belted a home run, 2 doubles, drove in 6 runs, and stole 4 bases. His home run was a grand slam in the top of the 7th against Northshore to put the Broncos ahead 5-4.

Isaac Gaspard C / Zachary, LA / 2026

Gaspard hit at a .375 clip last week for the Broncos with 2 home runs, 2 doubles, 5 runs batted in, and 1 stolen base.

Benjamin Ellender C / Breaux Bridge, LA / 2026

Ellender went 4-for-6 (.667) with 3 extra-base hits, 7 walks, and 1 hit-by-pitch last week for Breaux Bridge.

Trevor St. Cyr OF / 2B / Christian Home Educators Foundation, LA / 2027

St. Cyr threw a complete-game shutout over Southwest Louisiana Knights and allowed only 2 hits with 2 walks and 12 strikeouts.

Nathan Steele RHP / Christian Home Educators Foundation, LA / 2029

Steele tossed a complete-game shutout and allowed only 3 hits and 4 walks and 10 strikeouts last week against John Paul the Great.

Carson Christ 2B / Sam Houston, LA / 2026

The uncommitted senior went 7-for-12 (.583) with 2 home runs, 4 runs batted in, and 6 runs scored for the Broncos last week.

Jordin Griffin OF / 3B / Barbe, LA / 2027

The LSU commit has been red-hot at the plate this year for the Bucs. Last week, Griffin went 6-for-10 (.600) with a home run, 2 doubles, 6 runs batted in, 5 runs scored, and also stole 2 bases.

Landen Teague SS / RHP / Hahnville, LA / 2027

The uncommitted junior went 7-for-12 (.583) with a home run, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 7 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored last week. Teague also picked up a win on the mound after throwing a shutout inning in relief against Vandebilt Catholic.

Dace Fuselier C / Iota, LA / 2028

The sophomore backstop hit at a .556 clip last week with 2 doubles and also drove in 3 runs.

Jack Stokes 3B / 1B / Catholic BR, LA / 2029

The physical freshman infielder got his first varsity opportunity last week and made the most of it. In two games, Stokes went 4-for-4 with 3 home runs, 6 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored.

Tanner Conley LHP / 1B / Fontainebleau, LA / 2028

The sophomore southpaw tossed a complete-game shutout and allowed only 1 hit with 1 walk and 12 strikeouts last Saturday against Slidell.
