Tennessee Diamond Notes: Week 2

The Tennessee Diamond Notes is back for 2026 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.
Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.
For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Tennessee Diamond Notes.

TENNESSEE DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 2
+ Leiton Yancer (RHP, Coffee County HS) delivered a dominant outing on the mound, spinning a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts and no walks across seven innings, showcasing elite command and efficiency.
+ Austin Duncan (UTL, Knoxville Central HS) was a constant presence on the bases, reaching safely in 10 straight plate appearances while going 5-for-8 with six walks and an impressive .700 OBP.
+ Rhett Hayes (UTL, Giles County HS) turned in a standout two-way performance, hitting .636 with 10 RBIs while also punching out six over three scoreless innings on the mound.
+ Damarie Holt (UTL, Giles County HS) impacted the game in all facets, hitting .400 with five stolen bases while also tossing four no-hit innings with eight strikeouts.
+ Drew McLemore (UTL, Giles County HS) provided steady offensive production, hitting .385 with four doubles and six RBIs, consistently driving the baseball for extra bases.
+ Clayton Mosley (UTL, Giles County HS) continued to swing it well, hitting .455 with a 1.175 OPS while collecting five hits and driving in three runs.
+ Owen Jarrell (UTL, Giles County HS) added another productive bat to the lineup, hitting .364 with an OPS north of 1.000 while providing extra-base impact.
+ Hayden Spangenberg (RHP, Bartlett HS) was electric on the mound, striking out 11 over six shutout innings while allowing just two hits in a dominant performance.
+ Brantley Burress (UTL, Bartlett HS) contributed in multiple ways, going 6-for-10 with extra-base hits and four RBIs while also earning a win on the mound with four strikeouts.
+ Eli Coleman (RHP, Coalfield HS) turned in one of the top performances of the week, tossing a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a dominant 4-0 win over Midway.
+ Bowen Combs (UTL, Meigs County HS) stayed hot at the plate, hitting .555 (5-for-9) with a double, four runs scored, and two stolen bases.
+ Brayden Greene (LHP, Lawrence County HS) delivered a strong complete-game effort, allowing just three hits over seven innings while keeping hitters off balance throughout.
+ Bracyn Rose (UTL, Lawrence County HS) continued his strong start to the season, hitting .474 with a 1.226 OPS while adding five stolen bases.
+ Hunter Gibson (UTL, Lawrence County HS) ignited the offense, hitting .714 while swiping six bases and scoring five runs in an explosive week.
+ Kole Carter (UTL, Lawrence County HS) showcased his two-way ability, hitting .625 with a home run while striking out 15 over six innings to earn a win on the mound.
+ Eli Reed (RHP, Lawrence County HS) was lights out in relief, striking out eight over 3.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win.
+ Alex Jackson (UTL, Green Hill HS) had a flawless day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a home run and two doubles, consistently barreling baseballs.
+ Collier Helton (LHP, Pigeon Forge HS) continued his strong stretch both ways, throwing 5.1 innings with no earned runs and six strikeouts while also hitting .462 with three doubles and seven RBIs.
+ Branson Headrick (RHP, Pigeon Forge HS) earned a win with five scoreless innings, striking out five while limiting opposing hitters effectively.
+ Brody Watson (C, Pigeon Forge HS) stayed productive offensively, hitting .583 with a home run and four RBIs over 12 at-bats.
+ Matok Delk (UTL, Providence Christian Academy) showed his versatility, hitting .571 with a home run while also striking out five over three scoreless innings on the mound.
+ Josiah Allen (RHP, Providence Christian Academy) turned in a strong outing, earning a win after six innings of one-run ball with nine strikeouts.
+ Lucas Parker (RHP, Northwest HS) delivered a quality start, striking out nine over 6.1 innings while allowing just two hits and one run.
