PREP BASEBALL LOUISIANA POWER 25 RANKINGS (WEEK 4 UPDATE)

The Louisiana high school baseball season kicked off on Monday February 9, 2026 with regular season action beginning under LHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Louisiana Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Since Opening Day, our scouts have been out and about covering the 2026 season and will be publishing scout blogs and additional in-season content, such as our Power 25 updates, Player of the Week awards, Scout Blogs, Diamond Notes, and more.

The Top 5

 

For the first time this spring, the Top 5 teams remain the same with only one minor change to the order. Barbe checks in at the top spot again this week after going 5-0 last week. The Bucs beat St. Louis Catholic last Monday in an extra-inning thriller by a score of 6-5, before winning all four games in their tournament over the weekend.  

Catholic BR remains undefeated after winning all four of their games last week. The Bears beat Alexandria Senior High last Tuesday, before going 3-0 and outscoring their opponents 26 to 3 at a tournament in Mississippi. Senior Mills Richardson tossed 6 no-hit innings with 6 strikeouts against a tough Presbyterian Christian (MS) squad.

Sam Houston went 3-2 last week and drop one spot to #3 in this update. The Broncos beat Cathoic-New Iberia, Austin-Westlake (TX), and Monsignor Kelly Catholic (TX), and took losses to Barbe and Grapevine (TX). 

John Curtis Christian improved their overall record to 14-1 after winning all four of their games last week and are #4 again in this update. The Patriots beat Ponchatoula, Archbishop Shaw, Chalmette, and De La Salle. Junior Sean Goodrum threw a complete-game shutout against Chalmette last Friday in the Patriots 3-0 win. 

Brother Martin stays put at #5 this week after going 4-1 last week to move their overall record to 16-2. The Crusaders dropped their first game last week to Pearl River Central (MS), but rebounded with four straight wins, which included victories over Destrehan and Hahnville.

 

Risers

 + Captain Shreve moves up eight spots this week to #12 after winning both their games last week against Huntington and Calvary Baptist. Senior Reed Turner earned the win against Calvary Baptist and went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, triple, and 3 runs batted in.

+ Vandebilt Catholic rebounded with this week four wins to move up to the #13 spot in this update. The Terriers had big wins over Southside, St. Amant, and defending Non-Select Division II State Champion North DeSoto. Senior Jace Jarveaux threw a complete-game shutout with 8 strikeouts to beat Southside last Tuesday.

+ Walker has won seven of their last eight games, which is why they jump back into the Power 25 this week at the #14 spot. The Wildcats beat Thibodaux last Tuesday, before sweeping Fontainebleau in their three game series over the weekend. Senior Braylen Montgomery went 4-for-10 with 3 doubles and drove in 5 runs, while fellow senior Jaden Ard went 6-for-11 with 2 doubles and 4 runs scored.
