FROM THURSDAY (2.26.26)

+ HAMILTON VS. NETTLETON (PB MS SMALLTOWN SHOWDOWN)

Hamilton broke things open with an eight-run fifth inning and rolled to an 11-0 win over Nettleton on Thursday. The Lions tallied 11 hits on the night, highlighted by multi-hit performances from Whitaker, Lackie, Welch, and Self, while Lackie and Nichols each drove in two runs. On the mound, Whitaker was dominant, tossing four shutout innings with nine strikeouts to earn the win. Hamilton also swiped five bases and played error-free defense in the convincing victory.

+ LAWRENCE COUNTY VS. LOYD STAR

Loyd Star picked up a 4-2 win over Lawrence County on Thursday, building an early lead they wouldn’t surrender. The Hornets struck first in the opening inning and added three more runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run homer from Zumbro. Case earned the win with 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out five. Zumbro drove in two to pace the offense as Loyd Star secured the home victory.

+ PURVIS VS. OAK GROVE

Oak Grove edged Purvis 2-1 in a tightly contested matchup Thursday behind a dominant complete-game effort from Murphy. The right-hander worked all seven innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out 10 and walking two. The Warriors plated a run in the first on an RBI single from Pfaff and added another in the second following a Purvis error, which proved to be enough support. Oak Grove collected four hits in the win and turned a double play defensively to secure the victory.

+ PICAYUNE VS. PASS CHRISTIAN

Pass Christian blanked Picayune 3-0 on Thursday, combining for a three-pitcher shutout. Munsch set the tone with four scoreless innings, and Kelly and Callecod followed with clean relief appearances to secure the win. The Pirates broke through in the fifth inning on RBI singles, with Lyrock driving in two and Taylor collecting two hits to lead the offense. Pass Christian also turned a double play defensively, while Picayune managed three hits in the loss.

+ JACKSON VS. RICHTON

Richton secured a 4-3 walk-off win over Jackson on Thursday, ending it in the bottom of the seventh on Cochran’s RBI single. After falling behind 3-0 early, the Rebels battled back and tied the game in the fifth before completing the comeback late. Daughdrill went the distance on the mound, allowing three runs (two earned) over seven innings with five strikeouts to earn the win. Cochran and Pearson each collected two hits, while Everett drove in two runs to help power the offense.
