The Prep Baseball Virginia/DC staff makes their way across the Commonwealth and DC throughout the spring to assist high school players in gathering evaluations, including video and some data, that allow our staff to assist in the potential recruitment of student-athletes.
With the staggering start of private and public schools, we have a deeper collection of notes and video on players in this edition of the Ground Forces Scout Blog.

Centreville

Caleb Bang RHP / Centreville High, VA / 2026Physical presence on the mound, short quick arm action with some effort in the delivery, and working from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Fastball was 89-90 early with a late downer slider that was 79-83. The slider had more tilt when thrown to the glove side. The ball is heavy out of his hand.

Kees Yashko OF / 3B / Centreville High, VA / 2027Strong physical athletic frame, strong forearms, and a real good baseball body. The swing is short, and the barrel gets to the ball with violence. Shows easy power to the middle of the field with a chance to start utilizing that into true power at some point. Not a ton of loft in swing, more of a hard line drive hitter to all fields. He is going to be an interesting follow the rest of the season and this summer.

McLean

Alex Inget RHP / SS / Mclean High, VA / 2028Inget turned a quality start on the mound, going 4.1 innings without allowing an earned run and striking out three. The sophomore mixed extremely well between four pitches. Inget could land his mid 60s curveball or sweeping slider from 72-74 early in counts but also go to his breaking balls for whiffs late. Inget’s fastball was strong, getting multiple swings and misses at the top of the zone. He held velocity throughout his outing, still maintaining 83-85 in the fifth. Inget allowed limited traffic, but stayed composed and managed to escape jams.

Dan Ockerman LHP / OF / Mclean High, VA / 2026Ockerman, a Georgetown commit, came on for a short relief stint. On a cold night, Ockerman’s velocity was down a tick from his usual upper 80s, but his fastball still was competitive in the zone. He mixed in his changeup, using it against all hitters. Ockerman also mixed in his slider in the upper 70s, getting multiple whiffs and called strikes on the pitch.

Devrim Prell SS / RHP / McLean High School, VA / 2029The freshman had multiple quality at-bats in the heart of the McLean lineup. Prell was patient, walking twice out of his four plate appearances. He also knocked in two of McLean’s five runs thanks to a hard hit ball to the shortstop. At shortstop, Prell looked comfortable for his young age, making multiple simple plays.

|
JW Riggins OF / LHP / McLean High School, VA / 2026Another McLean Georgetown commit in Riggins helped lead his squad to a win on Tuesday. The Senior Future Games alum had a good night at the plate, reaching base twice and stealing a bag. Riggins had an impressive piece of two strike hitting in the 4th, staying with a low breaking ball and driving a single into the outfield. Riggins has a strong hit tool to all fields and should continue to contribute at the top of the order for the Highlanders.

Reid Turner SS / 2B / McLean, VA / 2026Hitting leadoff and handling the catching duties, Turner set the table for McLean. The Shenandoah commit reached base three times, scored two of McLean’s five runs, and swiped a bag. Turner had his only hit of the day with a single through the left side in the 4th. Behind the plate, Turner was impressive. He gunned a runner trying to steal 2nd in the 4th and made multiple clutch blocks to prevent runners from taking an extra base.

Oakton

Logan Thompson LHP / 1B / OAKTON HIGH, VA / 2027Long, lanky frame with a lot of projection left to it. Very low slot, just a tick above sidearm, short free arm action. Showed a ton of feel for his offspeed from the jump and pitched backwards, keeping hitters off-balance and generating a lot of soft contact. Went full count on the first hitter and still was at 16 pitches after 2 innings. The fastball was 80-82 with armside run that had some depth. Very good feel for the slider with sweeping action that has depth to it at 69-72. Also very comfortable with a change-up to right-handers that was 70 with some late heavy sink to it. Strike thrower with all three pitches.

Potomac School

Wyatt Overman C / 1B / The Potomac School, VA / 2028Physical frame with strength present throughout. Was comfortable in the middle of the lineup, showing an up the middle approach with some strength at contact and extra base power gap-to-gap.

Yorktown

Aidan McCracken OF / 2B / Yorktown High, VA / 2026McCracken was a major contributor for Yorktown on Tuesday, tallying the Patriots’ only hit and RBI of the contest. McCracken, a St. Mary’s (MD) commit, led off the bottom of the 1st with a good piece of two strike hitting, ending in a single up the middle. Later in the 5th, McCracken had Yorktown’s hardest hit ball of the game. He got up to a high fastball and lasered it straight at the right fielder for a loud sac-fly. McCracken also showed to be a sure glove in center field, running down multiple swings into the gaps.
