2026 Diamond Notes: Week 6

Every week, coaches around the state submit their nominations for the Prep Baseball California Player of the Week for NorCal and SoCal. Week 6 Players of the Week honors went to Gary Morse (Orange Lutheran, 2026) and Jake Kim (Harvard-Westlake, 2027). Morse delivered a dominant complete-game shutout at NHSI against Regis Jesuit, striking out 16 while allowing just two hits and three walksOn the season, Morse is 3-1 over 20 innings with 41 strikeouts, seven walks, nine hits allowed, and a .134 opponent batting average. Kim had a massive showing at NHSI, going 6-for-11 with two home runs, three doubles, nine RBIs, and four walks. On the season, Kim is hitting .513 with four home runs, five doubles, one triple, and 21 RBIs.

With several other impressive performances across the past week that were in the mix for both awards and deserve recognition, here is a rundown of some of the other standouts of the week. WEEK 5 DIAMOND NOTES

+ Logan Georges, RHP (Clovis, 2026) — TCU commit

Georges delivered a dominant outing against Oakdale, throwing five innings while allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out 10. He followed it up with a walk-off pinch-hit single the next day against Stockdale, showcasing his impact on both sides. On the season, Georges has thrown 18 innings with 33 strikeouts, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.55 ERA.

Ari Silva, RHP (McClatchy, 2026) — LMU commit

    Silva was outstanding on the mound, tossing a two-hit shutout against Antelope while striking out 12 and finishing just two outs shy of a no-hitter. He dominated the zone and limited hard contact throughout. On the season, Silva is 4-0 with a 0.45 ERA over 31 innings with 42 strikeouts.

    + Damian Catano, LHP/1B (Arcadia, 2026) — St. Mary’s commit

    Catano was a force on both sides in a two-game series against Pasadena, hitting .714 (5-for-7) with a double, three RBIs, and three runs, while also going 1-0 on the mound with five innings, allowing two hits, zero runs, and striking out five. On the season, Catano is hitting .429 (15-for-35) with five doubles, a triple, 15 RBIs, 11 runs, and four stolen bases.

    Jasen Womack, OF (Oak Ridge, 2026)

    Womack had a huge week at the plate, highlighted by a 4-for-4 performance against Davis with four RBIs and two doubles. Overall, he went 7-for-12 with six runs, eight RBIs, three doubles, and a home run. On the season, Womack is hitting .378 with a .465 OBP, 12 RBIs, five doubles, one home run, and a 1.060 OPS.

    Braden Makely, RHP (Granada, 2027)

      Makely tossed a complete-game win against Monte Vista, going seven innings while allowing two runs (one earned), one walk, and striking out eight. He showed strong command and the ability to work deep into the game. On the season, Makely is 3-2 with a 1.22 ERA over 28.2 innings, totaling 32 strikeouts and just four walks.

      Ryan Cooney, RHP (Foothill, 2026)

      Cooney delivered a complete-game performance on just 72 pitches, retiring 19 straight hitters to end the game while issuing no walks and striking out five. He showed excellent efficiency and command throughout the outing.

      Aiden Echavarria, RHP/SS (Whittier Christian, 2027)

        Echavarria starred as a two-way contributor, going 5-for-12 with two home runs (including a grand slam), a double, six RBIs, and four runs at the plate. On the mound, he threw a complete-game six-inning performance, allowing three hits and one run while striking out nine. On the season, he owns a 2.05 ERA across 27 innings with 45 strikeouts, holding opponents to a .163 average and .261 OBP.

        Adam Paine, SS (Murrieta Mesa, 2027)

          Paine had a big series against Murrieta Valley, hitting .600 with a .667 OBP, collecting six hits, two doubles, eight RBIs, two runs, and two walks. He consistently produced in key situations throughout the series.

          + Steven Genovese, RHP (Valencia, 2028)

            Genovese earned the win against Saugus in a 14-3 victory, working 6.2 innings while allowing minimal traffic, striking out three with one walk and one hit batter. He kept hitters off balance throughout the outing.

            + Ajay Lohitsa, 1B (Homestead, 2027)

              Lohitsa had an outstanding series against Los Altos, going 6-for-7 with five RBIs, four runs, and no strikeouts. He showed elite contact ability and consistency at the plate. On the season, he is hitting .357 with a .912 OPS, totaling 10 hits and six RBIs.

              + Aidan Jones, OF (Petaluma, 2027) — Cal commit

                Jones put together a strong week, going 5-for-12 with a home run, two doubles, and five RBIs. He consistently impacted the game offensively. On the season, he is hitting .400 with a 1.296 OPS.

                + Keaton Anderson, RHP (Newport Harbor, 2027)

                  Anderson delivered a strong outing in a win over Edison, throwing six innings while allowing just two hits and no earned runs while holding opponents to a .095 batting average against. On the season, he is 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA over 21 innings.

                  + Ryan Deck, RHP (Los Alamitos, 2026)

                    Deck tossed a two-hit shutout in a 2-0 victory over Marina, allowing no walks while striking out seven. He dominated the zone and limited baserunners throughout. On the season, Deck is 5-0 with a 0.66 ERA over 33 innings, recording 28 strikeouts and just three walks.

                    + Nico Pollioni, C/RHP (Sacred Heart Prep, 2026)

                      Pollioni had a strong all-around week, going 5-for-8 with a home run, five runs, two RBIs, two walks, and two hit-by-pitches while posting a 1.692 OPS. On the mound, he added three innings and a save, while also throwing out three runners. On the season, he is hitting 19-for-38 with four doubles, a triple, a home run, nine RBIs, 10 runs, six walks, and eight stolen bases, while also recording two saves.

                      + Dylan Yencho, 1B/P (Laguna Beach, 2027)

                      Yencho had a standout performance, recording five hits with three doubles in one game while also earning a two-inning save against La Mirada. On the week, he hit .786 with 11 hits, five doubles, eight RBIs, and six runs. On the season, he is hitting .481 with one home run, nine doubles, 16 RBIs, and 13 runs, while also posting a 1.75 ERA with 15 strikeouts and two saves over 12 innings.

                      + Blake Wilson, RHP (Fountain Valley, 2027)

                      Wilson delivered a dominant outing, throwing a complete-game one-hitter against Corona del Mar, allowing just one hit and one walk over seven innings. He showed strong command and efficiency throughout. On the season, Wilson is 4-1 with a 0.00 ERA over 20 innings, recording 22 strikeouts and just two walks.

                      Miles Austin, LF (Willow Glen, 2026)

                      Austin had a huge two-game stretch, going 6-for-7 with a double, seven RBIs, five stolen bases, two runs scored, and a walk, while also throwing out a runner at home. He impacted the game in all phases. On the season, Austin is hitting .342 with 14 RBIs, nine runs, five walks, and seven stolen bases.

                      + Angel Mejia, SS (Etiwanda, 2026)

                      Mejia led Etiwanda to a two-game sweep over Los Osos, going 5-for-9 with two doubles, a grand slam, 10 RBIs, and four runs. He consistently delivered in big moments. On the season, Mejia is hitting .348 with 16 hits, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 11 runs scored.

                      + Julian Trejo, 2B (Paraclete, 2028)

                      Trejo had an incredible week, going 11-for-12 across three games with two doubles, a triple, five RBIs, nine runs, and eight stolen bases. He consistently found barrels and created havoc on the bases. On the season, he is hitting .450 with a .577 OBP and a 1.252 OPS, totaling 18 hits, nine RBIs, 17 stolen bases, and 20 runs.

                      + Gavin Gorman, 3B (Paraclete, 2028)

                      Gorman had a productive week, going 5-for-9 with nine RBIs, highlighted by a grand slam. He consistently drove in runs and delivered in key spots. On the season, he is hitting .294 with a .400 OBP, totaling 10 hits, one home run, 12 RBIs, and nine runs.

                      + Adyan Bischop, IF (Quartz Hill, 2028)

                      Bischop had a strong showing in the Coach Bob Tournament in Arizona, going 6-for-10 with four runs, seven RBIs, a home run, two doubles, and a walk. He produced consistently across multiple games. On the season, he is hitting .452 with a 1.229 OPS, totaling six doubles, one home run, 14 RBIs, 13 runs, and six stolen bases.

                      + Hugo Marks, RHP/1B/DH (Washington-Fremont, 2026)

                      Marks turned in a dominant complete-game performance, striking out 16 while allowing just one hit and no walks. At the plate, he also contributed going 5-for-8 with four runs, a double, a triple, and seven RBIs. On the season, he is 4-1 with a 1.20 ERA and 51 strikeouts over 35 innings, while hitting .353.

                      + Angel Barajas, P/C/SS (Alisal, 2026)

                      Barajas contributed on both sides of the ball, going 3-for-4 against Pacific Grove and later throwing a complete-game seven-inning performance while also going 3-for-4 with a walk-off in a 3-2 win. He showed the ability to impact the game in multiple ways. On the season, he holds a 1.2 ERA and is hitting .468.

                      + Tyler George, P/1B (Santa Margarita, 2028)

                      George delivered a complete-game shutout against Servite, allowing just two hits while striking out four, and also hit a two-run home run in the 2-0 win. On the week, he went 4-for-10 with a home run and three RBIs. On the season, he is 6-0 with a 1.094 ERA over 32 innings with 27 strikeouts, while hitting .410 with one home run, multiple doubles, and 14 RBIs.

                      + Ryan Novajoski, RHP/LF (El Modena, 2026)

                      Novajoski delivered a strong two-way performance, throwing four innings while allowing one hit and no runs with five strikeouts in a win over Villa Park, while also going 2-for-2 with two RBIs. On the week, he added seven innings with six strikeouts and no earned runs, while going 4-for-8 with three RBIs at the plate. On the season, he is hitting .439 with six doubles and 14 RBIs, while posting a 4-2 record with one save, a 1.43 ERA, and 33 strikeouts over 29 innings.

                      + Matthew Gutierrez, LHP (El Modena, 2027)

                      Gutierrez turned in two strong outings, throwing two innings with no hits, no runs, and four strikeouts against Villa Park, and following it up with five innings allowing four hits, one run, and striking out nine against Crean Lutheran. On the week, he totaled seven innings with 13 strikeouts. On the season, he has a 1.70 ERA over 24.2 innings with 25 strikeouts.

                      + CJ Weinstein, INF (Orange Lutheran, 2026) — LSU commit

                      Weinstein had a strong showing at NHSI, hitting .500 with three doubles, one triple, and four walks. He consistently got on base and drove the offense. On the season, he is hitting .391 with three doubles, one triple, and five RBIs.

                      + Hudson Osterhout, CF (Whitney, 2026)

                      Osterhout had a big week from the leadoff spot, going 7-for-12 with five runs, three RBIs, two doubles, two stolen bases, and a hit-by-pitch, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance in an extra-inning win over Granite Bay. On the season, he is hitting .417 with 15 hits, 13 runs, four RBIs, three doubles, one triple, six walks, three hit-by-pitches, and six stolen bases over 11 games.

                      + Presley Gaborno, CF (Foothill, 2027)

                      Gaborno had a solid week, going 4-for-9 with two doubles, three RBIs, and a run, highlighted by a 2-for-3 performance against Cypress. On the season, he is hitting .380 with a .500 SLG, totaling multiple extra-base hits, five RBIs, 11 runs, and 15 stolen bases.

                      + Brody Shields, SS (Lower Lake, 2027)

                      Shields went 1-for-3 with a home run and also made a standout defensive play, fielding a ball in shallow left field and throwing the runner out at first base. He impacted the game on both sides.

                      + Jordan Rohrbacker, 1B (Lower Lake, 2027)

                      Rohrbacker went 2-for-2 in two consecutive games against Clearlake and Branson, breaking up a no-hitter and a shutout while scoring the only run. He delivered in key moments offensively.

                      + Daunte Bell, RHP (Millikan, 2026) — Houston commit

                      Bell threw a complete-game shutout against Long Beach Poly, allowing no runs on two hits with no walks while striking out 10. He controlled the game from start to finish. On the season, Bell has thrown 32 innings, allowing four earned runs with four walks and 42 strikeouts.
