2026 KSHSAA Player of the Week: Week 2

Eliott Wilk
Central Region Operations Director

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Prep Baseball KS Player of the Week. We will rely on submissions from high school coaches and others by way of email ([email protected]) or DM on X (twitter). Nominations should include player name, grad year, position, and stat line. The Kansas High School Player of the Week will be released every Tuesday afternoon. We will cover all players nominated for player of the week in our Diamond Notes article that comes out on Wednesdays.

Thank you to each high school coach who submitted a nomination for this week's awards.

Let's take a look at the Player of the Week for Week 2 (March 30th-April 5th):

Cohen Gunn LHP / Ellinwood, KS / 2027

The 6-foot, 161-pound southpaw has been nothing short of dominant for the Eagles to start the season. In Thursday’s start against Skyline, Gunn was lights out once again, tossing a six-inning no-hitter and racking up 16 strikeouts, with a lone walk being the only thing standing between him and a perfect game. The Eagles' ace has now punched out an astonishing 31 batters in just 11 innings this spring, surrendering only two hits on the year.
