Throughout the VA/DC high school season, our staff travels far and wide to identify the best players in the Commonwealth. In additon to that, our staff delivers evaluations and video to assist players in their recruiting process. Every week our staff members provide notes and video in an assortment of scout blogs. Jordan Jones, the Virginia/DC Assistant Scouting Director, will be delivering his weekly scout blog on some of the players he saw during his travels.

Jordan's Scout Blog

Hanover

Tucker Fodill 2B / 3B / Hanover High, VA / 2028

It was a three-hit night as he showed his bat-to-ball skills against some quality arms. He put together two singles and a double on the night. He showed a patient approach, showing the ability to hit in any count. It is a line-to-line approach that can spray line drives to all fields. Defensively, it is a second base profile that has shown natural hands and fluid actions. As he gets stronger, the impact could pick up, but the bat-to-ball skills are true and are an asset to his success.

Bryce Ellis RHP / 2B / Hanover High, VA / 2027

It was a quality start for Ellis as he threw four strong innings, only giving up one run. The fastball worked in the low eighties that was thrown early in counts. The mid-seventies breaking ball was the finisher that got some swings and misses late in counts. He did a nice job of competing and using his arsenal to get outs.

Lafayette

Jake Hanson SS / LAFAYETTE HIGH, VA / 2027

Hanson got the start on the mound for Lafayette and handled himself well against a talented New Kent lineup. There wasn’t too much loud contact off of Hanson as he showed a three-pitch sequence that he landed all for strikes. The changeup was the best secondary offering that had late depth and was mostly thrown to right-handed hitters. The fastball was up to 80 on the night, but he has room to add strength to increase the velocity. He has the feel to pitch and the confidence in his secondary to get outs.

Monacan

Brady McCormack RHP / 1B / Monacan High, VA / 2027

It was a quality first outing of the spring for the 2025 Future Games alum. In two innings of work, he tallied five strikeouts and only let up one hit. He established the slider that created some uncomfortable swings at 77-80. He used the fastball early in counts to set up the slider at 88-90, touching 91. The changeup wasn’t used in the game, but he showed it in warmups that had some firm diving action. There is a starter profile with a true advanced feel for the slider that gives him a weapon to get outs.

Grayson Morris 3B / RHP / Monacan High, VA / 2027

The offensive strides that Morris has taken have been impressive, and they are showing up in game situations early this spring. He was on barrel throughout the night, including two hits, with one being a solo home run. He is a physical presence, and the impact has picked up tremendously. Defensively, long-term it is still a corner infield profile, but the offense helps balance the profile.

New Kent

Dylan Bowman OF / LHP / New Kent High, VA / 2027

Bowman got the start on the mound for the Trojans and was strong through the first two innings but ran into some traffic in the third inning that ended his day. The fastball was 83-86 and worked to the arm side with some natural run. He landed a few sliders at 69-70. He worked with a quick pace and was successful when the pace was consistent. Offensively, he was a big contributor for the offense with two hits, including a three-run home run. He is a physical presence at the plate that has shown the ability to impact the baseball in game.

Keegan Branch OF / RHP / New Kent High, VA / 2027

Some of the most consistent swings came from Branch on Monday. He stayed patient in his approach and picked up two hits on the day. There is some physicality in the frame that can impact the baseball. It is a high-hand setup that shows some whip and ability to turn the barrel with some authority. He took good routes defensively, making plays in the outfield. Long term it is a corner outfield position with some future power potential.

Austin Uzzle 3B / 2B / New Kent High, VA / 2027

It was a short sample size in one inning of work, but Uzzle closed things out in the seventh. There was traffic to get through with a few walks, but he managed to work his way out of it. There is evident arm speed that has the fastball at 84-86 working up to 87. When the fastball was in the zone, he missed bats. There wasn’t much use of any secondary pitches in this outing, but it has been seen previously. He is athletic with a wiry frame that could see another velocity increase as he continues to mature.

Powhatan

Aiden Tuck OF / RHP / Powhatan High, VA / 2027

It was a three-hit night with two extra-base hits. There are loud tools that have been flashed in game in the past, but the impact is starting showing up more frequently. He has an aggressive mindset and swings with a lot of intent, looking to do damage. He is a good athlete with lean strength that has a corner outfield profile with above-average arm strength. If the consistent impact can stay true during the spring, then it just opens up more offensive production in the middle of the order.

Spotsylvania

Landen Fisher SS / 2B / Spotsylvania High, VA / 2027

Fisher was the offensive standout on the night, picking up three hits. He is aggressive and looks to get his best swing off early in the count. He had two singles and a loud double on the night. He is a long, wiry athlete that still has room to add strength. Defensively he has fluid actions and the arm strength to stick in the infield. He is a tone setter at the top of the order that can create a spark for the offense.

Joshua Perez RHP / 1B / Spotsylvania High, VA / 2026

It wasn’t the start that Perez was hoping for to begin the season, but he did flash some intriguing things in his outing. The fastball was up to 93 early in the outing, sitting 90-92. He had the most success with the fastball at the top of the zone late in counts. The slider is a plus pitch that he used early in counts and as a chase pitch with two strikes. He flashed the splitter at 80-83 to left-handed hitters. Where he ran into trouble is working into some deeper counts, resulting in walks and a couple of defensive miscues. When Perez is in the zone, his arsenal is one of the best in the state.

Westfield

Michael Cadolino C / 1B / Westfield High, VA / 2027

Cadolino put together some quality at-bats throughout the night, being on barrel and picking up a double during their comeback. It is a physical build that has evident strength to the pull side. Defensively he caught a runner stealing at second in the early part of the game. It is average arm strength, but he gets out of the crouch well.

Alex Raymond RHP / SS / Westfield High, VA / 2026

Raymond had a couple of hits on the night, but his last one was the biggest hit of the game. He stayed on a fastball on the outer half and sent it to left for a single that brought in what would be the game-winning run. He showed bat-to-ball skills throughout the game using the whole field.

Woodgrove

Colton Dabkowski OF / SS / Woodgrove High, VA / 2029

The freshman made contributions to the lineup with a hard hit single. It is a smooth left handed swing that has some twitch through the zone. He is a good athlete that has some lean strength in the frame that can flash some real impact to the pull side. While there is some strength present it plays from gap to gap with line drive tendencies. There is a lot to like with what he brings offensively giving a lot to look forward to in the future.

Camden Felmey 1B / RHP / Woodgrove High, VA / 2027

The at-bats that Felmey put together were impressive as he showed some intrigue from the left side. He was aggressive and attacked pitches that were in the zone using the whole field. He showed the ability to recognize secondary pitches and turn the barrel on pitches on the inner half. It is a short stroke with a long-limbed frame, with a 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame. It is more of a contact bat right now, but with the given frame there is some untapped power potential.

Braiden Miller 3B / RHP / Woodgrove High, VA / 2029

Miller got the start on the mound and had to battle through some adversity in his two innings of work. He had to work around some walks and some defensive miscues early on, but he battled his way through it and only walked away with giving up one run. The fastball was 85-88 and had some success at the top of the zone. He had better feel for the low seventies slider in the second inning. He is a competitor on the mound and has the intangibles to have some frontline upside down the road. Offensively he had a double on the night showing the impact in the bat.
