Updated Class of 2029 Player Rankings (March)
Throughout the fall we were all over the state, scouting numerous prospects and seeing many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene. With that information, we are updating each of our class rankings based off what we have seen. Up now, the Class of 2028.
As fall sports come to an end and winter sports season kicks off, we will take a look at the Top Five and "Weldon's Watchlist", and 50 "Freshman Follows".

Colton Smith C / RHP / Archbishop Moeller, OH / 2029Report: High end two way prospect with national level success. Three pitches for strikes on the mound. Commands a game behind the plate. Impact player. Displays advanced baseball IQ and feel for the game. He has demonstrated consistent performance in high-pressure situations. |

Carter Houseman SS / OF / Urbana High School, OH / 2029Report: Dynamic playmaker with elite athleticism. Does everything at a high level. LH top of the lineup bat. His smooth actions in the field and quick lateral movement allow him to cover significant ground. At the plate, he shows a disciplined eye and an ability to use the whole field. |

Carson O'Connell RHP / 3B / Massillon Jackson, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1
Report: 85-87 T89, good slider command. Major upside on the mound. He has a clean, projectable arm action and repeats his delivery well, which suggests more velocity is on the way. The slider shows sharp break and is a swing-and-miss pitch that he can land for strikes. |

Maddox Roth SS / RHP / Lakota East, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
Report: Big, strong athlete with swing and miss stuff on the mound. Gap-to-gap middle of the order profile offensively. Above avg power and contact. His powerful frame translates to easy pop off the bat, and he shows a knack for finding the barrel. On the mound, his fastball has late life and can be a tough look for hitters. |

Austin Krenzel RHP / 3B / Dublin Jerome High School, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 2
Report: Loose arm, low 3/4 slot like his brother, copy and paste deliveries. Massive upside potential on the mound. Will get innings at Jerome this spring. The arm action is incredibly easy and projects for a significant velocity jump as he physically matures. His unique arm slot creates difficult angles for hitters. |

Mitchell Huber 1B / RHP / Jonathan Alder High School, OH / 2029Report: Big bodied two-way. Confident player with potential to impact the game on both sides. Offensively, he possesses serious pull-side power and an aggressive, confident approach at the plate. |

Carter Williams C / 3B / Kenton Ridge, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 2
Report: Strong, physical backstop. Advanced bat for the age. His frame is built for durability and power, translating into strong throws from behind the plate. The advanced approach at the plate suggests his offensive production should continue to be there as he advances. |

Kayson Smith SS / 2B / Bexley High School, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 3
Report: 6.83 runner. Advanced hit tool with potential to be a premium power bat. Can impact a game on the bases. The combination of a refined swing and quick hands suggests he will hit for both average and significant power as he fills out. |

Alexander Toler RHP / 1B / Waverly High School, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 3
Report: Big bodied power arm with more in the tank as the body starts to clean up. Potential to rise if he can make a jump and prove he's a pitcher not a thrower. Huge upside. Fastball jumps on hitters, while the offspeed arsenal has shown continuous improvement. |

Report: Defensive operator with advanced feel for the position. Top of the lineup bat. Playmaker. His instincts and quick first step make difficult plays look routine at short. Table setter mentality at the plate, not a comfortable at-bat for pitchers. |

Kevin Klingerman RHP / OF / Columbus Academy, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 11 / POS: 4
Report: Clean delivery, repeatable. Has been one of the more consistent arms we've seen. Projects well as he matures and adds strength. He shows exceptional command of his entire arsenal, consistently challenging hitters in the zone. The clean mechanics are a strong indicator of future durability and velocity gains. |

Michael Cangelosi Jr SS / 3B / Padua Franciscan, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 5
Report: Explosive bat, ability to change a game with one swing. Creative defender who can make a wide range of plays on the dirt. He has elite bat speed that produces loud contact, capable of driving the ball to all fields. His defensive creativity and arm strength allow him to make difficult plays from various angles at shortstop. |

Bryce Messick RHP / 1B / North Royalton, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 5
Report: Physical RHP with a high baseball IQ. Workman like mentality. Will continue to improve at a high rate. He attacks the strike zone with conviction and shows an advanced understanding of sequencing. We project a sharp development curve here that could see him rise in future updates. |

Tyler Walder SS / OF / Marlington High School, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 6
Report: Clean defender with advanced actions in the infield. Above avg bat to ball skills with developing power. He possesses textbook defensive footwork and soft hands, making him a reliable and smooth infielder. His ability to consistently make contact is a strong foundation for his offensive game, with a line-to-line ability at the plate. |

Carter Beck SS / RHP / Saint John School, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 7
Report: One of the more explosive deliveries in the class. Displays a ton of athleticism and feel on the mound. Exciting arm to follow. Developing offensive traits. His highly athletic delivery generates impressive velocity and movement, making him a difficult matchup for hitters.. He shows raw but exciting potential both on the mound and with the bat. |

Liam Bradley RHP / OF / Gahanna Lincoln, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 16 / POS: 6
Report: Just scratching the surface of his potential, compact and quick arm path on the mound. Repeats the delivery well. Should find his way into some innings this spring with Gahanna Lincoln. His quick arm suggests a significant velocity spike is imminent as he adds strength to his frame. He demonstrates an innate feel for spin. |

Connor Chaney SS / RHP / Mason, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 8
Report: Athletic MIF prospect in a long line of them from Mason. Posseses above avg lateral quickness, can make a multitude of throws at short. Has some upside on the mound as well. Intriguing two-way prospect. His defensive versatility is a major asset, with the arm strength to handle the left side of the infield. The two-way potential, particularly his athletic actions on the mound, makes him a highly watchable prospect. |

Nolan Beyer 3B / RHP / St Charles Preparatory School, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 1
Report: 6'3" two-way who we like a lot on the mound. Up to 83 in the winter with more on the way. Long, tall frame with plenty of room. The velocity is expected to climb steadily as he converts his frame into functional strength. |

Walker Barber C / OF / Badin, OH / 2029Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 3
Report: A big, strong lefty catcher, he looks noticeably mature for his age right away. He has wide shoulders, hinting at big upper-body power later, plus a strong lower half that grounds his swing. These physical tools show huge power potential, especially the kind of raw strength that leads to consistent slugging numbers from the left side. He moves well behind the plate, too, suggesting he can stick at the position as he moves up. |

Report: A high-level two-way prospect with a substantial, athletic frame expected to compete for varsity innings immediately at Lakota West. The raw tools jump out quickly, exhibiting elite strength and above-average speed, translating to noticeable power potential at the dish and velocity on the mound. The overall athleticism projects well for defensive versatility. |
