For the next two weeks we will roll out our Preseason Power 25. We will release three teams per day for the first week and then move to two teams per day once we reach the Top 10 next week. Voting for preseason teams centers more around the depth of talent on that team, the roster outlook, previous success with players on the roster, as well as where it stacks up within their region/area, as opposed to strictly predicting schedule outcomes. Our staff weighs ten different categories (i.e. offensive depth, impact players, frontline arm, pitching staff depth, sustained program success, etc).
Generally, larger schools and classifications have a greater depth of player talent on roster. However, once the season begins and records begin to take shape, the Power 25 will be adjusted as needed. In addition to that, we will debut our Private School Top 10 around late-March/early-April and the Small School Top 10 around mid-April. This will allow teams to settle in and their schedule to begin to shake out. Our first overall Power 25 update, due to the VHSL season being pushed back a week, will come Monday, March 30th.
#5: Great Bridge Wildcats
2025 Record: 17-7
Key Returning Players: Jayden Bocachica (Keystone), Cole Cinnamond (Clemson), Brody Comparto (George Mason), Casey Cuddyer (UNC), Andrew Griffin (Norfolk State), Ryder Harrell (EMU)
Key Losses: Adam Bartley, Tristan Cheek, Dayton House
Season Outlook: There is not another team in the 757 area returning as much production and upside as what the Wildcats have coming back. Honestly, we are not sure if there is a "weak spot" on this Great Bridge team. Two everyday players in the lineup and one of their top three arms (total innings pitched), that is what this team does not bring back from last year. What will be the biggest loss to overcome? We think the loss of Bartley at third base is pretty significant. He hit .400+, was the everyday third baseman, and brough some impact in the order. We do think it is replaceable, but it will certainly be one of the areas of concern for this team. They have the arm talent, they are athletic, and stay consistent up the middle of the field. All of those are traits of a good team. Will they be able to right the ship from the heartbreak that ended their 2025 season?
