The 2026 Alabama high school baseball season opened Thursday with teams across the state returning to the field for the first time this spring. A full slate of games marked the beginning of the schedule, featuring a mix of non-region matchups and early tests for programs looking to establish themselves in the weeks ahead. While it’s only the first day on the calendar, the results offered an early snapshot of where teams stand coming out of the offseason. Below is a complete roundup of scores from Opening Day across Alabama.

Tuscalooosa County vs. Bob Jones
In a marquee Class 7A matchup, No. 2 Tuscaloosa County shut out No. 3 Bob Jones, 7-0, on Friday in a rematch of last year’s 7A North Semifinal. The Wildcats set the tone early by scoring in the first inning and then breaking the game open with a four-run second to create separation. From there, the pitching staff took over, keeping Bob Jones off the scoreboard and limiting opportunities throughout. With timely offense, aggressive baserunning, and clean defense, Tuscaloosa County controlled the game from start to finish and delivered a statement win in one of the weekend’s most anticipated showdowns.
American Christian vs. Hartselle
In a high-profile matchup at River Run Park, Class 5A No. 1 American Christian Academy defeated Class 6A No. 1 Hartselle, 5-1, on Friday. The Patriots struck first in the opening inning, and after Hartselle briefly evened the score, the game remained tight into the middle innings. American Christian Academy then broke it open in the sixth with a four-run frame to seize control. Strong pitching and clean defense carried the Patriots the rest of the way, as they limited scoring chances and closed out a statement win between two top-ranked programs.
Northridge vs. Helena
Northside edged Helena, 3-2, in walk-off fashion Friday in a tightly contested game that came down to the final play. The teams were tied at two entering the bottom of the seventh before Kightlinger delivered the decisive blow, driving in the winning run to end the game. Both sides leaned on strong pitching throughout, keeping the score close and limiting opportunities. Helena struck first in the third inning, while Northside responded in the middle innings to take a brief lead before Helena capitalized on an error to tie the game in the seventh. With momentum hanging in the balance, Kightlinger’s walk-off hit sealed the victory for Northside in a well-played, back-and-forth matchup.
Pelham vs. McGill-Toolen Catholic
Pelham secured a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over McGill-Toolen on Friday, capping a back-and-forth contest with a decisive swing in the bottom of the seventh. The game was tied at four entering the final frame before Petrock delivered the game-winning single to bring home the winning run. Pelham struck first and carried a slim lead through the early innings, but McGill-Toolen answered with a rally in the fifth to move in front. The Panthers responded late, putting together a final push in the seventh to reclaim the lead and close it out in walk-off fashion. The win sealed a tightly contested matchup that featured multiple lead changes and came down to the final at-bat.
Saraland vs. Demopolis
Saraland earned a 4-2 win over Demopolis on Friday behind a dominant performance on the mound and an early offensive surge. The Spartans jumped out in front in the first inning with a four-run frame that proved to be the difference. Demopolis attempted to rally late, scoring once in the sixth and again in the seventh, but Saraland’s pitching and defense held firm to close out the game. The contest was defined by strong work on the mound, timely early offense, and a late push that ultimately fell short as Saraland secured the victory.
