Prospect Pulse: BC Preseason Invitational Watchlist (Underclass)

Linden Krause RHP / 1B / Yale Secondary School, BC / 2028

Krause is a former West Coast Super Sophomore participant to watch next week at the BCPI. It’s a mature 6-foot-1,185-pound body with two-way upside. We saw the fastball live 80-82, topping out at 83.8 in Oregon, with arm side run. The changeup was the pitch that Krause found the most success with during his outing at Bushnell, tunneling well to the glove side with good velocity separation off the fastball. The Cardinals product had one of the best rounds of BP out of the Canadians in attendance, finding the sweet spot at a 89% clip with max and exit velocities of 94.5 and 88.3 mph, respectively. Krause has a strong foundation that makes him a player to follow into the future.

Cole Hudie SS / RHP / Delta Secondary School, BC / 2028

Another Delta product with high upside, Hudie put together a very strong Freshman season and was named the MVP of the 15U National Champion Delta Blue Jays. It’s an athletic 6-foot-2, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. The right-hander looked  sharp during a recent preseason bullpen in front of our staff, with easy movements and a quality breaking ball. Hudie impressed our staff with his in game performance last spring, and we look forward to getting our first in-event look next week on his home turf.

Ethan Gray RHP / OF / Lord Tweedsmuir , BC / 2028

The right-hander jumped onto the scene last year, quickly becoming one of the more exciting prospects in the class. In our last look at Gray, the fastball sat 85-88 mph, topping out at 89 with an average of 21.3 inches of IVB. The curveball showed good depth with additional movement to the arm side and an average spin rate of 2718 rpm. This will be our first look at Gray since March of last year, and we look forward to checking in on the development of the Langley right-hander.

Mason Shuto SS / C / Grandview Heights, BC / 2029

We last saw Shuto at the West Coast Super Sophomore Games where he showed well on workout day. The White Rock product posted a max exit velocity of 93.4 mph and averaged 83.5, with both metrics near the top of his class in Canada. Shuto also showed off advanced bat speed, averaging 72.1 mph during his BP round in Oregon. On the defensive side of the ball, Shuto displayed fundamentally sound actions with good footwork. Look for Shuto to build on his successful fall with a big performance next week in Ladner.

Alex Tamayo OF / 1B / Kwantlen park secondary, BC / 2028

The Delta Blue Jays product possesses an athletic L/L profile with good bat-to-ball skills. We saw Tamayo back in March where he posted a max exit velocity of 87.4 mph and hit line drives & fly balls at a combined clip of 75%. One of the more advanced hitters in the class, we are excited to see the progression from Tamayo after a long offseason.
