Inside the Rankings is a unique look through the eyes of Prep Baseball scouts, allowing players, fans, and coaches to get to know some of the top players in the state of North Carolina. Rankings in the state are updated almost quarterly, as playersare transitioning from one season to another. Prep Baseball scouts will use the information they gain from Prep Baseball events, Prep Baseball Tournaments, game coverage, workouts, and practices to put grades on as many players in the state as possible. With over 400 players in each graduating class committing to play college baseball from North Carolina, over the past 8 years, this is a state with a ton of talent.
Rankings Spotlight : Jesse May 2027 Durham Riverside HS RHP
The tall, athletic, projectable right-hander continues to make steady progress toward realizing his upside. At 6’5”, he’s already showing an intriguing arsenal, with a fastball that has reached the low 90s and typically sits in the upper 80s. His slider, thrown in the mid 70s, serves as his primary secondary pitch and has shown the ability to generate both outs and swings-and-misses. He also demonstrates feel for a deceptive changeup, giving him a legitimate three-pitch mix. With a high ceiling and continued development, he stands out as a strong follow heading into his junior year.
