In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we'll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team's box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they're able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 3 Libertyville opened their title defense with a 6-4 victory over No. 10 Lane Tech. Mathew Hara (2027) had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4, finishing a homer shy of the cycle while driving in a pair. Carson Holmes (2026), Ryan Wilberding (2027), Braden Tolzien (2026), and Jack Cenar (2026) each collected a hit in the win. The ace of the staff, RHP Chase Lockwood (2026) picked up right where he left off in 2025 with a scoreless four-inning start, allowing just one hit while striking out six. RHP Theo Kellogg (2026) also had a scoreless outing, coming in for the final four outs of the game while recording three punchouts. For Lane Tech, RHP Charles Lust (2027) had a scoreless appearance without surrendering a hit or walk, while punching out five.

No. 5 Mt. Carmel opened their 2026 season with a 10-0 win over Morgan Park. The pitching staff was led by RHP Jake Matise (2026; Lewis) who tossed four scoreless, allowing a pair of hits and a pair of walks, while punching out 6. RHP Thomas Sosinski (2026; Lake Land JC) came on to close out the contest, working a scoreless inning while punching out the side. The Caravan offense was led by TJ McQuillan (2026; Wake Forest) who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, a walk, and an RBI. Brady Holland (2026; Georgetown) and Haiden Lajcin (2026) each recorded three RBI in the win to round out the offensive attack.

Columbia knocked off No. 17 St. Joseph-Ogden in a pitcher's duel 3-1. Sophomore Connor Basinski was stellar on the mound to earn the win, going five innings with just two hits allowed, no runs, one walk and seven strikeouts. Creighton commit Brody Landgraf (2026) paced the offense with a home run and a single, also driving in two and scoring once. Basinski helped his own cause at the plate with a double and a run scored — while Cooper Reuss (2027) added a double and an RBI. Ayden Sepich (2028) supplied a clean inning of relief on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out one.

The Mascoutah pitching staff was led by the Klein brothers in the win; with RHP Darren Klein (2027) getting the start and the win, allowing just one run in four innings of work while striking out five, while RHP Brandon Klein (2029) tossed three scoreless, scattering one hit and also punching out five in his varsity debut. Carson Moll (2026) and Gabe James (2027) led the way offensively for the Indians, with each going 2-for-4 in the contest.

Roop also earned the win on the mound after firing 3.2 innings of one-hit ball, striking out four.
