CHSAA Power 25 Update: 2026 Opening Day
March 4, 2026
Colorado Power 25
The Prep Baseball Colorado staff is looking forward to diligently scouting players and teams throughout this spring, and will continue to work hard to bring the state top notch coverage on the baseball diamond. Colorado is flourishing with high-end baseball talent at the moment and is starting to gather more and more national recognition as well. We hope to continue all momentum in the state while making an impact on the players and teams within.
Throughout the 2026 season, our staff will be publishing scout notes/video, and additional in-season content along the way, like Power 25 updates, Player of the Week awards, 'Daily Roundups', and weekly top performers included inside Diamond Notes.

TOP 25 (Opening Day):
TOP 5 BREAKDOWNS:
REGIS JESUIT: The Raiders have firmly established themselves as one of Colorado’s premier programs, reaching the 5A Championship game in back-to-back seasons, and they enter this spring with every intention of finishing the job. This roster is loaded with high-end talent, featuring five Division I commits and four former Prep Baseball Future Games selections, a testament to both the program’s development and the caliber of athlete in the dugout. The strength of this group begins on the mound, where pitching depth allows them to attack opponents in waves, shortening games and controlling tempo. Offensively, the Raiders counter with a mature, advanced lineup capable of grinding out at-bats or changing the game with one swing. The blend of power arms, experienced hitters, and big-game pedigree makes this one of the deepest and most complete rosters in the state, one built not just to contend, but to take the final step.
GRANDVIEW: Grandview may be one of the most dangerous matchups in 5A baseball, and it starts with elite frontline talent. Ethan Wachsmann (Wake Forest commit) headlines the rotation after running his fastball up to 97 mph during last spring’s playoff run, and there’s legitimate buzz that he could flirt with triple digits throughout 2026. When you can hand the ball to a power arm like that in a postseason setting, everything changes. Behind him, the return of some of the team’s key pieces from last year's run provides stability and leadership, while the addition of Jackson Bernosky (Gonzaga commit) injects even more high-level talent into an already physical roster. This is a club built on strength, athleticism, and presence. The key will be the supporting cast on the mound, if the staff can consistently log quality innings behind Wachsmann, Grandview has all the pieces to make a serious push back to the 5A Final Four and beyond.
MOUNTAIN VISTA: Mountain Vista might boast the most loaded pitching staff in 5A, and that alone makes them a legitimate threat every time they take the field. With five former Future Games alumni on the roster, Coach Quintana has a wealth of high-level arms at his disposal; power, polish, and depth that few programs in the state can match. The Golden Eagles have the depth and versatility to pressure opponents from every angle, stacking quality arms. Offensively, Jackson Crawford (USC commit) could be the tone-setter in the heart of the order, a presence capable of carrying the lineup when it finds rhythm. Hitting has historically been the missing piece for Mountain Vista, but if this group can produce consistent at-bats to complement its dominant pitching, the formula is there for a deep and dangerous postseason run.
ARVADA WEST: Arvada West enters the season as a young but battle-tested group that has already proven it can compete deep into May. Headlined by Colorado’s top-ranked 2027 prospect, Cooper Vais (Texas commit), the Wildcats return a dynamic two-way presence who helped power last year’s run to the 5A Elite Eight. Vais sets the tone with his competitiveness and versatility, but he’s far from alone, this roster features a wave of high-upside returners and high-ranked names primed for breakout seasons. After finishing 23-4-1 a year ago and graduating only their starting shortstop, continuity is firmly on their side. The experience gained from last spring’s postseason push, paired with a hungry core that’s still ascending, makes this a program built to build on its momentum and reassert itself as a serious 5A contender.
CHERRY CREEK: The Cherry Creek Bruins enter 2026 as back-to-back 5A state champions, a standard few programs in Colorado can match. With that success, however, comes significant turnover from last year’s title-winning core. Even so, don’t expect a prolonged reset. If history has shown anything, it’s that Cherry Creek reloads as well as anyone. A new wave of contributors is stepping into full-time roles, and while the names may be different, the upside across the roster is evident. There’s emerging talent ready to seize the spotlight, and the culture of postseason expectation remains firmly intact. Look for names like Rothman, Campbell, Goldberg, Smith, Rudden, and Silverman to potentially headline this next chapter as the Bruins aim to re-establish themselves as a favorite when playoff time rolls around once again.
