The District of Columbia State Athletic Association is made up of more than a 25 different schools. Today we take a look at a few of those team rosters as we prepare for the 2026 season high school season.
DCSAA Season Previews:
Gonzaga Eagles
2025 Record: 17-14
Massive losses off of a 17-14 Eagles team will make it tough for a successful 2026, but they do have six returners in the lineup and a few key contributing arms. Cash McDade (Baylor), Luke Forde (Catholic), and Andrew Hoffman all graduated, along with others. In addition to a sizable senior class, Bryant James transferred to WCAC foe Bishop O’Connell. While the Zags do lose a lot, they also return some very important seniors with Tyler Majkowski, Colin Madden (Hamilton), and Dylan Waits (Washington & Lee). Majkowski and Madden should be big contributors on the mound, while Waits will more than likely continue to be a steadying presence in the middle of the field and a sparkplug in the lineup. A few other names to note that could factor in this season and beyond are Chaz Willis, Harper Waters, Declan Schnabel, Jackson Schmidt, and Matteo Pipia. Pipia saw some important time last season and brings some two-way value to the Eagles’ squad. A few other names that could play important parts for this team are Gary Barton (2029), Anthony Lymus (2027), and Liam Finkel (2027). The Eagles have a solid combination of youth and experience. The biggest question may be which arm(s) will join Majkowski on the mound to push them through to wins over some of the top teams in the conference?

Jackson-Reed Tigers
2025 Record: 30-5
The Tigers rolled to a 30-5 record for the 2025 season. They had big wins over St. Albans, Gilman, and Georgetown Prep, while also having a one run loss in a tough game versus Madison. Returning for 2026 are notable names like Alex Ouzts, Ben Shapiro, Tommy Gore, Derick Reddick, and Petar Dunn. They did lose some important arms from last year’s team, graduating Simon Corbin and Zander Leckszas (Dickinson). Those two graduated arms combined for more than 50 innings on the mound, with both holding a sub 1.2 ERA. Nelson Hayes (Georgetown) is the most important returning arm, throwing just over 29 innings last season while holding a 6:1 K/BB ratio. Joining Hayes on the mound is fellow senior Teddy Benach. Benach saw some success of his own last season, throwing 21 innings for Jackson-Reed. The Tigers should be senior heavy this season and should be a serious contender in the DCSAA yet again.

Maret Frogs
2025 Record: 11-10
Maret is coming off of a 11-10 season with notable early season wins over Potomac School and SSSAS. After they opened up at 5-0, there were not many signature wins after that. The Frogs lost 8 of their last 11 games with the offense struggling to score runs versus solid competition. From a statistical standpoint, Maret hit .224 as a team. Returners Grant King (.417 BA) and Isiah Williams (.396 BA) led the way. Both of them were far and away the highlights of the offense, leading the team in RBI, Runs Scored, doubles, triples, and homeruns. On the pitching side of things Devin Trendl was their standout arm, throwing 51 innings to a tune of a 2.3 ERA. Trendl only walked 16 batters all season, but will need more consistent defense behind him in 2026. King also contributed 45 innings of work on the mound, but much higher walk rates and lower strikeout totals pushed his ERA up a bit. Overall, there is promise in 2026, as they have their major contributors back, but will need added depth at the plate if they want to compete in the big games.

St. Alban's Bulldogs
2025 Record: 23-14
The Bulldogs graduated a few of their top hitters with names like Luke Trepanier, Henry Evans, and Myles Upchurch (Alabama) moving on. In addition to what Upchurch provided at the plate, his 29 innings on the mound will surely be a big void to fill. Preston Benner (Chicago) also threw his fair share of innings, totaling 30.1 innings pitched and a 2.31 ERA. Between those two and Lucas Young’s 24 innings of work, they will have a ton of mound time to figure out. Jacob Romhilt (Dickinson), Jack Guerin, and George Minjack will be three of the names to follow that should see the most time on the mound. Romhilt and Guerin threw more than 80 innings last spring, with Romhilt carrying a 1.76 ERA for the year. At the plate Caleb Kim (Johns Hopkins), Guerin, Henry Miller (Bard), John Melrose, and Minjack will more than likely be the names to follow for offensive production. Two arms to keep an eye on are Dylan Sanchez and Connor Mitchell, they may both play big parts in the depth of this pitching staff and take some burden off of this lineup. Will the Bulldogs have enough for a repeat performance in 2026?

Sidwell Friends Quakers
2025 Record: 15-8
After a strong 12-2 start to the season, the Quakers went 3-6 over the final month of the season. Solid wins over Flint Hill, sweeping Maret, and Potomac School were some of the highlights of the 2025 campaign. John McMurray, Tanner Breslin, and Kevin Carpenter-Holmes (Rochester) will certainly be missed, but with returners like Daniel Piho, Tommy Levy, Porter Speece (Chicago), and Owen Liu-Bailey, they should once again be in a solid spot to compete in the DCSAA. Liu-Bailey and Cody Encarnacion should be the two arms that will dominate time on the mound, both combining for more than 60 innings last spring. While they have some quality arms to compete for a DCSAA title, they will need to figure out how to replace some of their top bats from last spring.
