2026 Ramsay Rams Team Preview

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Ramsay enters the 2026 season looking to build off a 2025 campaign that saw the Rams finish 14-15 and just outside the postseason picture in Class 5A, Area 10. While the record didn’t reflect the goals of the program, the foundation laid last spring, especially with a core group of returning contributors, has this group positioned to take a step forward. With experience returning across the field and more pieces ready to take on bigger roles, Ramsay will look to turn close games into wins and push back into the playoff conversation.

The Rams bring back a solid mix of experience and versatility, starting with C/1B Armani Rogers (2026), who anchors the lineup and provides flexibility around the field. SS Pierce Alexander (2026) and INF Zion Rice (2026) give Ramsay a steady presence on the infield, while OF/RHP Lamin Giddens (2026) adds a two-way option who can impact games both at the plate and on the mound. OF Carter Mosley (2027) returns as another key piece in the outfield, and C/RHP Kelbi Tunstall (2028) is a young name to watch who can contribute in multiple ways. The underclass group brings additional upside with 3B/RHP Fred Edwards (2028) and SS/RHP Courtlynn Perkins (2029), while 1B/RHP Greg Nixon (2027) provides added depth and experience to the roster.

Looking ahead to 2026, Ramsay’s strengths start with sound defense, speed, power, and a growing level of experience across the roster. With multiple returning starters and more depth than a year ago, the Rams will aim to build on last year's season and aim to be playing their best baseball down the stretch. If this group continues to develop and leans into its defensive identity while getting timely production offensively, Ramsay has the pieces in place to take a noticeable step forward in Class 5A, Area 10.
