Prep Baseball Texas Staff

The 2027 class in Texas is a special one, loaded with athleticism, projection, and players who are beginning to make a real impact across the state. As we head into the HS season, we roll out our latest update to the Prep Baseball Texas 2027 State Rankings. In this update where we expanded to 350 players, we see some movement throughout but not a ton at the top.  Read below for a look at some of the newcomers and players who improved their rankings.

Brendan Freeman | RHP | 2026 | Frisco Emerson | Dallas Baptist University Commit | 6’1” 212

Athletic right-hander with a strong, physical build and a clean arm action. Fastball worked 90–91 mph with impressive spin (~2600 rpm) and carry through the zone. Reliable strike-thrower with confidence in the fastball. Features two distinct breaking balls, both showing quality action and plus spin (2700+ rpm). Able to generate swing-and-miss with the full arsenal. Stuff continues to trend up with more development coming.


Preston Farragut | CF/INF | 2027  | Dallas Jesuit | 6’1” 197

Has added noticeable strength and looks physically strong right now. Plus runner (6.71 60) with defensive versatility and the ability to handle center field. Showed impact potential at the plate with hard contact, topping 102 EV. Tools are present; performance this spring and summer will be key as he continues to ascend.


Graham Hardin | RHP | 2027  | Lubbock Coronado | 6’2” 183

Projectable build with room to continue adding size and strength. Repeats delivery well with present arm speed from a sidearm slot. Fastball shows action to both sides of the plate with sink and touched 90 mph. Slider shows 2600+ spin with sweep/slurvy shape that can induce chase from right-handed hitters. Changeup shows solid turnover action. Stuff is real and trending in the right direction.


Ian Mulligan | RHP | 2027 | McKinney Christian | 6’4” 205

Looks the part on the mound with a strong, projectable frame. Repeats delivery and arm action while showing present arm speed. Fastball has been up to 89 mph with life and the ability to pitch up or down in the zone. Slider shape varies but flashes average action. Changeup is a developing pitch with tail/sink and fade. Velocity and overall polish should continue to improve.


Riggs Gordon | C/1B | 2027 | Cedar Ridge | 6’0” 162

Athletic build with plenty of room to add strength. Plus runner and good overall mover. Offensively shows a short, compact swing with emerging G2G pop, quick hands, and strong rhythm. Stays inside the baseball consistently. Behind the plate, shows quick feet, solid carry on throws, and encouraging pop times. Well-rounded player who should continue to improve with maturity.


Ben Fuqua | LHP | 2027 | Memorial | 6’2” 225

Strong frame with continued physical projection. Fastball has touched 89 mph with quality movement and more velocity likely coming. Changeup shows plus action and projects as a real weapon. Slider continues to sharpen and plays as a reliable strike pitch. Easy, repeatable delivery with real upside moving forward.


Brayden Naegele | OF | 2027 | Salado | 5’7” 168

Plus runner (6.80 60) with a 90 mph arm from the outfield featuring a compact path and quick release. Rangy defender who covers ground well. At the plate, shows strength and bat speed with the ability to impact the baseball. Swing can get long at times, but the athleticism and tools are evident. Sets up for a strong spring.


Jayton Mulkey | RHP | 2027 | Caddo Mills | 6’2” 188

Projectable frame with strength gains ahead. Repeats delivery and arm action while showing present arm speed. Strike-thrower who can pitch up and down in the zone. Fastball velocity is expected to climb. Shows the ability to spin both curveball and slider (2400+ rpm), with flashes of quality action. Changeup shows deception and movement. Development trending positively with a jump coming.


Hunter Myers | INF/C | 2027 | Tomball | 5’11” 185

213 → 166
Strong build with lower-half strength and above-average athleticism. Versatile defender with solid actions both behind the plate and on the infield. Quick feet and release with plenty of arm strength. At the plate, puts together quality at-bats, consistently working the ball up the middle and to the opposite gap. Profiles as a true doubles-type hitter.


Arturo “DJ” Aranda | MIF | 2027 | Eagle Pass

311 → 171
Left-handed-hitting middle infielder who stood out at the South TX Preseason All-State. Put on an impressive BP showing, leaving the yard multiple times and generating power from a compact frame. Solid defensive actions on the dirt with strong game awareness and feel to play. Significant offensive upside continues to emerge.
