The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Tigers made a playoff run a year ago with one of the youngest teams in the state and look to have a strong season once again as they compete in a tough 3-4A region. Senior SS/RHP Daejeon Elder will be an x-factor for the Tigers as he brings a high-floor profile and will supply senior leadership to the squad. Elder led the team with a .432 avg. while filling a multitude of roles for the pitching staff and anchoring the infield defense at the 6 and will be looked upon to do so once again. 2027 2B Luke McEldoon joins Elder up-the-middle and led the team in RBI’s (31) last season as he will be looked upon as a major run producer in the middle-of-the-order once again. One of the many strengths for the Tigers is the pitching and it starts with a pair of sophomores in RHP/1B JT Pirkle and RHP/OF Cayden Dimitri who bring forth a potent 1-2 punch. They both gained invaluable experience as freshman and held their own all season, as Pirkle earned 7 wins and Dimitri earned 6 wins along with topping out at 90 MPH. Dimitri is also a fixture at the top of the order as he batted for a .333 avg. and hit over 20 + RBI's last season. 2028 3B/SS/RHP Will Dimitri possesses "gamer" traits throughout and will be a swiss-army knife type of player for Coach Dimitri and staff. The sophomore saw an everyday role last year as he batted for a .349 avg. with 17 stolen bases along with holding down a spot in the bullpen. Sophomore C Brody Johnson will be out to open the year but will provide immense value on both sides when he returns after batting for a .322 average as a freshman. A name that could take on that role to start the year and make an instant impact is 2029 C Christian Ryan. Senior OF Sawyer Roper showed well in our looks last Spring and is armed with big-time strength in the frame as he could be a major source of power to the offense. Juniors OF Colt Angel and 1B Hudson Clark provide the lineup with veteran experience and will be relied upon as dependable sticks throughout the order. 2027 RHP Jackson Starling is another big piece in the rotation as he boasts a quality mix in the upper 80’s with plenty of projection remaining in the wiry 6-foot-3 frame. Freshman RHP Fuller Carver polishes off the rotation and boasts whippy arm speed with tons of upside in a lean 6-foot frame and is a name to know in the 2029 class heading into the Spring. Senior RHP Jacob Eber will be a high-leverage arm in relief as he pitched to a 4-0 record with 2 saves a year ago. A stout freshman class continues with names like MIF/OF/RHP Jacob Gilstrap and MIF/OF Luke Goudie. Both bring versatility defensively and bolster the depth of the lineup as Gilstrap has a chance to carry a role in the pen as well. This is a talented blend of upperclass and underclass talent and a group that simply knows how to win. They all grew up with one another and love to compete at the highest level which bodes extremely well for another exceptional season in ‘26.
