Notable Recaps from Thursday

Mobile Christian (10) vs. Russellville (7)
Mobile Christian outlasted Russellville 10-7 on Thursday, riding a big middle innings surge and a four-hit night from Helton. Kayden Helton finished 4-for-4 with four singles, added three stolen bases, and helped spark an offense that piled up 13 hits. Mobile Christian opened the scoring in the first on a passed ball, but Russellville answered immediately to take the lead in the bottom half. The teams traded runs through the first two innings, with Mobile Christian tying it in the second before Russellville regained the edge with a pair of extra-base hits. The turning point came in the fourth inning, when Mobile Christian broke the game open to grab a 7-4 advantage. A pair of runs scored on a fielder’s choice, Kayden Helton followed with an RBI single, and another run came home on a passed ball as the Leopards seized momentum. Brayden Page earned the win, and Aiden Gaston closed the door late to secure the save. Titus Wu drove in three runs from the bottom of the order for Mobile Christian, while Russellville stayed within striking distance behind a perfect 3-for-3 day from Caleb Hawkins. Russellville also pressured the bases all game, swiping eight bags, but Mobile Christian’s timely offense in the middle frames proved to be the difference.

Dothan (4) vs. Orange Beach (3)
Dothan rallied late to edge Orange Beach 4-3 on Thursday, using a clutch extra-base hit to flip the game in the sixth inning. Trailing 3-2, the Wolves surged ahead when Will Varner delivered a two-run double to put Dothan in front for good. Orange Beach struck first in the opening frame on a double by Ward Hickman and added another run in the second on an RBI single from Brayden Hood to build an early cushion. Dothan starter Edmund Cody battled through 3.2 innings, striking out nine, before the bullpen combination of Aaron Walker and Jacoby Smith shut down the Makos the rest of the way to preserve the one-run victory. Will Varner drove in two runs from the nine spot in the order, while six different Wolves recorded a hit. Dothan also turned a key double play in the field. For Orange Beach, Ward Hickman finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Brayden Hood, Ward Hickman, and Ben Pugh each collected two hits. The Makos played error-free defense, but Dothan’s late execution proved to be the difference in a tightly contested matchup.

Elmore County (7) vs. Bibb County (4)
Elmore County pulled away late to defeat Bibb County 7-4 on Thursday, capitalizing on timely hitting despite being out-hit 8-7 in the contest. The Panthers struck first in the third inning, plating four runs behind RBI singles from Shelton Darnell and Evan Spence along with a run-scoring groundout by Sawyer Dutton. Bibb County battled back to tie the game in the fifth, taking advantage of an error and a balk to even the score. Elmore County answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Evan Spence delivered a two-run single to break the tie, and a fielder’s choice by Kason Moe extended the lead to 7-4, giving the Panthers enough cushion to close it out. Evan Spence led the way offensively with three RBIs, while Shelton Darnell, Evan Spence, and Jaymeson Traylor each collected two hits. Kason Moe earned the start on the mound and worked into the fifth inning before the bullpen finished the job. For Bibb County, Scooter Sanders, Berkley Clark, and Dylan Kornegay each tallied two hits, with Sanders driving in a run. The Choctaws turned a double play defensively but couldn’t overcome Elmore County’s decisive fifth inning.

Rehobeth (7) vs. Providence Christian (6)
Rehobeth delivered late-game drama on Thursday, walking off Providence Christian with a 7-6 victory at Oates Sanders Field. Locked in a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the seventh, Jacob Shiver lifted a solo home run to left field to seal the win. Rehobeth struck first in the opening inning on a walk by Jace Dean, but Providence Christian answered in the third to even the score. A passed ball helped the Rebels regain the lead in the bottom half, though the Eagles surged ahead in the fourth behind an RBI double from Trevor Dillard and a two-run homer by Brooks Canady. Trailing late, Rehobeth mounted one final push in the seventh. Grayson Arnette launched a home run to spark the rally before Shiver’s blast provided the decisive swing. Arnette earned the win in relief, allowing one run over two innings while striking out three. Spencer Phillips also contributed a scoreless frame out of the bullpen. Offensively, Arnette drove in three runs and, along with Kooper Webb, helped apply pressure on the bases as the Rebels swiped four total bags. For Providence Christian, Slade Woodham led the way with three hits, while Canady drove in two runs in the hard-fought loss.
