Throughout the high school season, we will recognize a Mizuno Player of the Week and Mizuno Pitcher of the Week. Each week, standout performances from both position players and pitchers across the state will be highlighted as players continue to produce eye-catching results. This season, one Player of the Week and one Pitcher of the Week will be selected based on nominations submitted by high school coaches throughout Mississippi. Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 9 of the 2026 spring season.

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Drew Stanton C / 3B / Myrtle Attendance Center, MS / 2028 Drew Stanton put together a monster week at the plate, going 8-for-11 (.727) while reaching base consistently and doing serious damage. He recorded one double and launched four home runs, driving in 13 runs while also drawing five walks to cap off an ultra-productive stretch. Stanton continues to establish himself as one of the premier players in Mississippi’s 2028 class with his combination of power, approach, and overall offensive impact.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Logan Buckley LHP / 1B / Columbia Academy, MS / 2026 Logan Buckley, a Southern Miss recruit turned in a flawless performance on the mound, tossing a perfect game against Wayne Academy. The left-hander was dominant from start to finish, working all seven innings without allowing a hit or a walk while striking out 15. Buckley controlled the game entirely, overpowering hitters and filling up the zone in one of the most impressive outings you’ll see this spring.
