Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 1 St. Laurence defeated St. Xavier 11-7. The Vikings offense was led by Danny Donovan (2026; UW-Parkside Commit), who went 3-for-4 with three singles, a run, and four RBIs. Tristan Steger (2027; Kentucky Commit) had a perfect 3-for-3 with two singles, a solo home run, hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly, and two RBIs. Cory Les (2026; Louisville Commit) went 2-for-3 with a triple, two-run home run, stolen base, a walk, three runs, and two RBIs. Evan Panther knocked in an RBI single while Sean Popp (2026; Oakton CC Commit) hit an RBI groundout to get on the board. Mickey Lotus (2026; Lewis Commit) stole two bases in this contest. Jimmy Benson (2027; TCU Commit) went four innings and struck out four batters. Carter Mosher (2026; Joliet JC Commit) got the win in relief by throwing 2.2 innings and striking out a batter while only giving up an earned run.

No. 2 Normal Community defeated Peoria Notre Dame 11-2. Gavin Michaels (2026; Cincinnati Commit) led the Ironmen offense by going 2-for-2 with two singles, sacrifice fly, walk, two stolen bases, two runs, and three RBIs. Max Heineman (2026; UIC Commit) went 1-for-3 with a walk, stolen base, double, and two RBIs. Josh Jones (2026; Indiana State Commit) went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI single and a run. Andrew Naour (2026) went 2-for-3 with two singles, two runs, and an RBI. Drew Stevens (2026; Valparaiso Commit) hit a sacrifice fly while Nico Salvati (2027) hit an RBI single for the Ironmen. Gavin Swartz (2026; Indiana Commit) got the win by tossing four shutout innings and striking out seven batters.

St. Xavier took down No. 4 Brother Rice 7-2. Brady Cunningham (2027; Texas A&M Commit) drove in the only two RBIs of the game for the Crusaders when he hit a two-run home run. Shea Leahy (2026; Purdue-Northwest Commit) had a nice outing by tossing three scoreless innings in relief.

No. 7 Huntley defeated Dundee-Crown 12-6. Leo Bianchin (2026; Kishwaukee JC Commit) had a massive day for the Red Raiders by going 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, a stolen base, and six RBIs. Gavin Rettberg (2026) drove in a two-RBI double and a run. Drew Borkowski (2026; Heartland CC Commit) hit a solo home run to knock in his RBI of the game. Ashton Jones (2027) hit an RBI single while Kyle Ziebell (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) hit a double, single and drew a bases-loaded walk while scoring three runs in this contest. Rowan Parker (2027) got the win in relief by delivering 3.1 innings and striking out five batters. Josh Rudnick (2026; McHenry County JC Commit) struck out two of the four batters he faced in his inning of relief.

No. 9 Homewood-Flossmoor shut out Bradley-Bourbonnais 6-0. The big reason was Henry Humes (2026; Northwestern Commit), who took the mound and threw a no-hitter and struck out ten batters while only giving up a walk. Jhames Holley (2026; Joliet JC Commit) led the Vikings offense by going 3-for-3 with a single, double, stolen base, and a solo home run, which knocked in three RBIs. Ashton Jones (2027) contributed as well by hitting an RBI single and stealing two bases.

No. 11 Lockport edged out No. 17 Sandburg 4-3 in Illinois's Power 25 matchup. Adam Kozak (2026; Lewis Commit) came in clutch by hitting a game-tying three-run home run in the fifth inning. Jack Schiek (2026; Purdue-Northwest Commit) hit the game-winning RBI single to seal it for the Porters. While that offense was on display, Anthony Farina (2027) stepped on the mound for all seven innings and struck out nine batters to secure the win. For Sandburg, Lucas Rosas (2026; Benedictine Commit) hit a three-run home run in the first inning to put the Eagles out in front early.

Trinity took down No. 13 Providence Catholic 6-2. Landon Ehman provided the only RBI of the game for the Celtics on his sacrifice fly. He also went 2-for-2 with two singles.

No. 20 Mascoutah routed Murphysboro 16-0. Nathan Walker (2026; Southwestern Illinois JC Commit) led the Indians offense by going 2-for-2 with a hit by pitch and two-home run game (solo and three-run), which knocked in a total of five RBIs. Nolan Lebert (2026; Olivet Nazarene Commit) went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, two runs, and three RBIs. Other key players include Gabe James (2027; 3-for-3, 2 2B, SB, 2 R) and CJ Epps (1-for-4, two-RBI single, R), who each knocked in two RBIs. Jackson Grindstaff pitched three scoreless innings and struck out two. Laith Fanous came in relief and pitched the final two innings and struck out a batter without giving up a hit.

No. 21 Lane Tech defeated Whitney Young 5-3. Jacob DeVinney (2026; St. Mary's (MN) Commit) drove in four RBIs for the Champions offense by hitting a two-run single and a two-run home run. Tanner Toback (2027) also knocked in an RBI on his RBI single while also stealing two bases of the contest. Ronan Owens (2026; Umass Commit) tossed 4.2 innings and struck out six and earned the win. Cruz Warren (2027) pitched the remaining 2.1 innings and struck out three to earn the seven-out save.

No. 22 Sacred Heart-Griffin defeated Routt Catholic 6-1. Drew Ward (2026; Illinois Wesleyan Commit) and Ty Springer (2026; Lincoln Land CC Commit) both led the Cyclones offense with two RBIs. Ward went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs. Springer went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, sacrifice fly and a stolen base. Austin Rutter (2027) had a triple and an RBI double while Jobe Kepler drove in an RBI single in this contest. Will Coady (2026) pitched a complete game and struck out seven batters while only giving up one hit.

No. 23 Oak Park-River Forest defeated Addison Trail 4-2. Robert Kolovitz (2027) hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the sixth inning for the Huskies. Later in the inning, Liam Moroney (2026) hit the RBI single to increase the deficit to two. Johnny Nelson (2026; Wright State Commit) recorded four stolen bases in this contest. Collin Kjarsgaard (2027) pitched five innings and struck out two, which earned him the win. Xavier Martin (2027) came in relief and notched the six-out save without giving up a run.

No. 24 McHenry took down Crystal Lake South 3-2 in a FVC matchup on Friday. Landon Clements (2027; UIC) and Kaden Wasniewski (2027; LSU) each tallied an RBI for the Warriors, Garet Lobbins (2027) doubled and walked. RHP Ian Boland tossed five innings, striking out six, allowing two runs, three hits, and two walks. Nathan Neidhardt (2026) tossed two innings allowing one hit and one strikeout.

Citizens Christian Academy came from behind to beat No. 25 Loyola Academy 5-4. Teddy Kurtzweil (2026) led the Ramblers offense by going 3-for-3 with a triple, two singles, and two RBIs. Mark Atwood (2027) went 2-for-4 with two singles, two stolen bases, two runs, and an RBI. Anthony Reavy (2026; Milwaukee School of Engineering Commit) knocked in an RBI double for this contest.

No. 25 Loyola Academy defeated West Seneca Christian 7-6. Mark Atwood (2027) led the Ramblers offense by going 2-for-3 with a double, single, the walk-off sacrifice fly, two stolen bases, a run, and two RBIs. Bennett Kono (2028) went 3-for-5 with a double, two singles, a run, and two RBIs. Brody Munsey-Johnson pitched four relief shutout innings and struck out four while only giving up a hit. Ryan Lindbloom (2026; DePauw Commit) struck out the side in the ninth inning to qualify for the win.

Bartlett took down Fenton 12-2. The bats were hot all day for the Hawks, getting help from Mason Leiterman (2029; 3-for-3, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 4 R, BB), Vince Yario (2026; Harper JC; 3-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI, R) and Josh Colaizzi (2026 McHenry County JC; 2-for-4, 2 R), who collected eight of the team's 13 hits in the contest. Aiden Mertes (2027) was dominant on the mound going four innings, giving up one hit, no runs, and striking out eight.

Hampshire took down Crystal Lake Central 2-1 in a tight FVC matchup. Gavin Weston (2028) got the start for the Whips and went five strong innings, allowing three hits, one run, zero earned runs, and striking out three. Tyler Lacke (2027) got the win in relief with two perfect innings, punching out two. Logan Nawrocki (2027) led the offense going 1-for-1 with a 2B and two walks. For the Tigers, Johnny Geisser (2026; McHenry County JC) looked sharp on the mound, going six innings, allowing two hits, one earned run, and striking out six.

DePaul College Prep defeated Marian Catholic 15-12 in a high-scoring affair. Aydin Abbasi (2027; 2-for-2, 3 R, BB), Nolan Hecht (2028; 2-for-3, 2 RBI, R) and Julian Stump (2028; 2-for-2, R) each collected two hits for the Rams. Leo Gerstung (2026) got the start on the bump and went three innings, allowing four hits and one run. Jazarris Mackmore Jr. (2027; Illinois-Chicago; 2-for-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) had a solid day at the plate for the Spartans.

Burlington Central took down Cary-Grove 3-0 behind a gem from Aidric Arndt (2027). Arndt went the distance, giving up no runs on two hits, while striking out seven. Thomas Koertgen (2027; 2-for-3, HR) and Jaxton Bovee (2028; 2B, 2 RBI) led the Rockets offense. Brady Bauer (2026) tripled for the Trojans.

Lincoln-Way Central defeated Stagg 5-2. Conor McCabe (2026; Illinois Wesleyan) led the charge going 3-for-5 with a 2B, RBI, and two runs scored. Des Gill (2028) also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, a sac fly, and a stolen base. Alex Panos (2026; 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 5 K) and Nolan Bartkus (2026; 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K) locked it down on the mound for the Knights. Dominic Talaga (2027) collected two hits for the Chargers.

Barrington cruised by Wheeling by a score of 12-1. Max Wrzeszcz (2027; 3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Will Steffens (2028; 3-for-4, 3B, 3 RBI, R, HBP), Bowie Heintz (2027; 2-for-5, 2B, RBI, 2 R), Joseph Mueller (2027; 2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Trevor Naughten (2026; 2-for-4, BB) all collected multiple hits. Jack Postma (2028; 4.1 IP, 3 H, R, 0 ER, 6 K) and Johnathan Radosh (2026; 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4K) shut down the Wheeling offense.

Genoa-Kingston took down Richmond-Burton 8-4. Jack Peterson (2026) led the offense going 2-for-3, with 2 RBI, a run scored, and a walk. Owen Zaccard (2026) added a hit and two RBI, and Jacob Rutkowski walked three times. Rutkowski looked great in relief, going 4.1 innings, allowing three hits, one run, zero earned, while striking out six.

Newton took down West Vigo 2-1. Eli Wolf (2028) tossed a complete game to earn the win, while David Ferguson (2026) went 2-for-3 with a double and a homer to help lead the Eagles' offense.

Mt. Vernon beat Belleville East 7-5. The Rams were led by Nolan Mast (2026; 3-for-3, 3 RBI, SB), Ty Pierce (2026; 2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R), and Cale Maurer (2026, Kaskaskia JC; 2-for-3, 3B, RBI).

Grayslake Central defeated Grayslake North 6-1. Sophomore Beau Barrows fired four innings of shutout baseball with four punchouts to pick up his first varsity win as the Rams moved to 8-0 in completing the sweep against Grayslake North. Fellow sophomore Jayson Domerchi led the Rams offense with a pair of hits and two runs scored. Senior Derek Caldwell tossed the final three innings fanning four.

Glenbrook South blanked Niles West 10--0. Charlie Krauss (2027) got the Titans going with three hits (3-for-3, 2 R). James Dooman (2026; Eastern FL State) also went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and added two RBI. Catcher Sam Christos (2027) tacked on two doubles with three RBI. Jack Stefani (2026) added on with a two RBI triple. On the mound the Titans got quality outings from Conor Fallon (2027; IP, 0 R, H, K) and Sam Sehlhorst (2027; 4 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 5 K).
