2026 High School Team Preview: Rochester Adams Highlanders
ROCHESTER HILLS - With 12 returning players from the Oakland Activities Association Red Division champions, Andrew Lamkin is expecting a big season at Rochester Adams.
“I feel this team has no glaring weaknesses,” said the long-time teacher at Adams, who is in his second stint as head baseball coach.
A year ago the Highlanders went 28-10, going 17-1 in the conference in claiming a fourth consecutive league championship.
A senior-laden club in 2026 has expectations of making a long tournament run, after losing to Lake Orion in 10 innings in the district finals last season.
Six college commits, another senior still looking for a place to play at the next level along with one of the best sophomores in the country are expected to lead the way.
Matt Toeppner, the fourth-rated 2026 outfielder in the state and a Michigan State signee, headlines the roster. Ryland Watters, a left-hander pitcher who is a Central Michigan football recruit, is another standout back.
Seniors also expected to help the cause are Adrian commit Andrew Wozniak, Aquinas signee Dominic Dumitrescu, Henry Ford recruit McCallister Doelle and Macomb commit Johnny Safadi.
Luke Borowski, is another key piece back along with seniors Jesse Geottes, Henry Hittle and Ben Peters and junior Brady Lindstrom.
Koltyn Watters, the ninth-ranked 2028 outfielder in the nation, is another valuable player expected to be a spark to the lineup for Rochester Adams.
Junior right-handed pitcher Colin Steffens is a newcomer that Lamkin points to as bringing promise to the team along with sophomores Akhil Pilla (RHP), Leo Capaldi (catcher), Reid Holt (RHP) and Evan Newingham (MIF).
“We have some pitching that lacks varsity experience,” Lamkin said about his biggest concern.
But the head coach, who led the Highlanders to a pair of state runner-up finishes in 1995 and 1996 in his first time in charge of the program, has a lot of confidence this could be a season to remember.
“This team is very close-knit,” noted Lamkin, who lost just two players to graduation from a year ago, Henry Donohue and Daniel Seymour. “We have a great group of young men.”
A group that Lamkin feels could make memories.
“If we throw strikes we will be very hard to beat,” Lamkin concluded.
