Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week: Simon Rose
March 31, 2026
Highland Park is off to a strong 4-2 start, with their pitching really turning a corner as of late, allowing only two runs in their last three games. One big factor in these numbers is junior right-hander Simon Rose, coming off a dominant performance on their spring trip that resulted in a 10-0 win over Radnor (PA). For his efforts, Rose has been named this week’s Pitcher of the Week.
Things got off to a great start early in the game, as he fired an immaculate inning right out of the gate. He would go on to finish the outing with 6.1 innings, only three hits allowed, one walk and 15 strikeouts - earning his first win of the young season.
Through two starts, Rose has fired 9.1 innings to the tune of a 1.50 ERA, striking out 21 batters to only three walks.
Rose, currently the No. 106 ranked player in the state, is a talented two-way prospect with a bright future on both sides of the ball. The fastball will reach into the mid-80s and pair with a big-breaking 11/5 curveball, all coming from a simple yet athletic operation that he can repeat. He’s also a toolsy right-handed hitting infielder with triple-digit exit velocities in-event.
