This Friday, a great SPSL matchup took place as Bonney Lake hosted Puyallup. The Panthers were coming off of a 2-0 week to that point, while Puyallup was looking for their first victory of the week. Bonney Lake leaned on their offense early and often in this one, eventually securing a 12-2 run-rule victory in 6 innings. Below are scouting notes on some of the standout performers from this game seen by Prep Baseball staff.
Bonney Lake vs. Puyallup (4.3.26)
Bonney Lake
'27 OF Ryan Cannady (Uncommitted)
The leadoff man for the BL lineup set the tone early and turned in a productive afternoon start to finish. Cannady returned to HS ball after taking last spring off, but looked like he hadn't missed a beat on the offensive side of the ball. The upright, relaxed setup moved into a strong position at contact, creating some bat lag through the zone with a lofted, all fields approach. Cannady fits well in a corner OF role moving forward, where the offense can lead the way. On Friday, he finished 2-4, 3 R, BB, RBI, capped off by a huge solo home run to LCF to walk off the game via run rule. Intriguing follow moving forward.

'26 RHP/INF Wyatt Vincent (Edmonds Commit)
The senior has been a varsity regular for multiple years now and made his impact felt on both sides of the baseball in this game. The compact-framed righty went the distance on the mound, throwing 6 innings of 2 run ball while striking out 5. The command was a bit spotty, particularly in the later innings, but Vincent consistently worked in a three pitch mix to limit damage and induce a ton of outs in the air. The FB sat in the low 80's, paired with a CB/CH from a higher-intent delivery. The senior also went 1-4 with a run and RBI at the dish.

'26 INF Lucas Miller (Uncommitted)
One of the big winners at PNW State Games last summer, Miller looked comfortable as a key bat for BL in-game on Friday. The larger-framed righty moves well enough for a corner INF spot, with longer-levers and a higher-waisted frame. At the plate, Miller went 2-3 with 2 runs and an RBI, dropping in a big double as a part of the Bonney Lake offensive barrage early. Miller posted triple digit exit velocities at this winter's PNW Preseason All-State and is an uncommitted name for colleges to know.
'27 INF Alex De La Cruz (Uncommitted)
A twitchy, medium-framed player with a well-rounded skillset, De La Cruz manned shortstop well despite limited in-game action and put together QAB's all afternoon. The junior reached base three times with a single, walk and HBP, scoring twice and driving in a run as well. De La Cruz works with balance and rhythm at the plate with a short-to-long path, keeping the barrel in the zone for an extended amount of time. The junior plays with an ease and confidence to his game that should continue to translate well.

'26 1B Ryan Orcutt (Uncommitted)
The tall lefty got the scoring started for BL with a towering home run in the second inning, and was one of the major offensive catalysts in what was a huge game as a team. Orcutt sets in a more upright, open stance, creating some natural LH loft with present bat speed. The senior finished 2-4 with 2 RBI and a run, providing some thump near the bottom of the lineup. Orcutt DH'ed in this one but has shown the ability to make the routine play at 1B in previous looks.
Puyallup
'28 1B Greg Johnson (Uncommitted)
Johnson was the star of the game in what was a quieter afternoon for the Vikings, mashing a solo HR and adding another single later in the contest. The ultra-physical 6'2 sophomore carries a tremendously mature approach at the plate, with strike zone discipline and bat to ball skill blended with huge power potential. He's shown the ability to handle all types of arms, including high velocity in the past, and carries all the traits of one of the best offensive threats in the class. A 1B-only type defensively, Johnson also showcased developing leadership and intangible traits that should only boost his profile further. The sophomore will be a must-circle heading into his recruiting period opening this summer.

Mature, physical presence from the right side with an elite blend of bat to ball and power. Top-ten ranked player in the state sophomore class. Will be a must-follow heading… pic.twitter.com/zSWjwG3ZrO
'27 C Keagan Soliza (Hawaii Commit)
Soliza has gotten off to a red-hot start in his junior spring, swinging the bat exceptionally well while continuing to provide plus defense from the catcher position. The switch-hitter was exclusively from the left side in this one, lacing a single as his offensive highlight of the game. The bat speed looks to be steadily increasing, proven at his latest showcase look at PNW Preseason All-State this winter. A wiry-framed, twitchy player, Soliza also carries plus speed and instincts on the bases. The junior has the tools to impact the game in a variety of ways and looks the part of a D-1 commit.
'27 INF Ryan Judge (Uncommitted)
The junior was another winner at this winter's PNW Preseason All-State and had a nice game on Friday as well. Judge worked to the pull side for both of his hits, finishing 2-3 with an RBI and a double overall. The swing stays under control with a tighter hand path through contact into a longer, whippy two-handed finish. Judge manned 2B defensively in this look with softer, quick hands shown, and carries enough arm strength to play anywhere on the dirt at the HS level.
