2026 NY Preseason ID: Last Chance: Quick Hits

On Friday, March 6th, the Prep Baseball New York staff hosted the 2026 NY Preseason ID: Last Chance at Accelerate Sports Complex in Whitesboro, NY. Over 105 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of players to follow in New York this upcoming spring.

We begin our post-event content today with our quick hits from the event, highlighting some of the notable players from the day and their numbers.

Position Players

+ C Owen Fear (Saratoga Springs, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 44 in the state’s junior class. 6-foot-2, 188-pound frame. Fear showed well behind the plate, controlling the run game with a strong arm up to 83 mph and a clean, efficient catch-and-release. Offensively, he shows power potential with strength in the swing, up to 105 mph EV. An uncommitted name for schools to follow.

+ MIF Jacob Podlucky (CBA-Albany, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 86 in the state’s junior class. Podlucky is a high-upside left-handed hitter with a fluid operation in the box, working with barrel tilt geared for pull-side power. He showed impact off the bat with a 103 mph exit velocity and 400+ foot power, while also running a 7.05 in the 60. An uncommitted name for schools to follow.

+ 3B Michael Santilli (CBA-Albany, 2028):
Currently ranked No. 30 in the state’s sophomore class. 5-foot-10, 200-pound frame. Santilli is a power-oriented hitter with an aggressive, high-effort operation, utilizing advanced rotational metrics (30g, 75 mph bat speed) that translate to impact at contact. He showed a 102 mph exit velocity with 373 feet of distance. 

+ OF Luca Brunetti (Iona Prep, 2028):
Currently ranked No. 36 in the state’s 2028 class, Brunetti maintains consistent timing in the box with a controlled leg hang and stride. He turned in a loud BP round, producing a 100 mph peak exit velocity with a 93 mph average and 382 feet of distance, while also running a 6.90 in the 60. 

Two-Way Players

+ OF/RHP Michael Brucker (New Hartford, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 66 in the state’s 2027 class, 6-foot-2, 189-pound frame with strength. Brucker showed a power-oriented offensive profile with a 102 mph exit velocity and 407 feet of distance. On the mound, he showed a high-spin fastball (2100 avg. rpm) up to 86 mph with feel for his secondary offerings. 

+ RHP/SS Stephen Yakubec (Salem, 2027):
Currently the 51st ranked prospect in the state’s junior class, Yakubec is a projectable two-way prospect with a fastball that shows high spin and plays through the zone up to 88 mph, pairing it with swing-and-miss off-speed. Offensively, he showed upside with a 102 mph exit velocity and 399 feet of carry.

+ RHP/OF Andrew Valente (Chittenango, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 59 in the state’s 2027 class, 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Valente is a high-upside athletic two-way prospect with a well-rounded toolset. On the mound, his fastball worked up to 88 mph with high spin that plays through the zone, pairing it with a deceptive off-speed offering. He showed advanced offensive metrics with a 101 mph peak exit velocity, 94 mph average, and 386 feet of distance. A plus runner at 6.71 in the 60, he also showed arm strength from the outfield up to 90 mph.

+ RHP/OF Ryan McCoy (Baldwinsville, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 60 in the state’s junior class, physical frame. McCoy operates from a low ¾ slot on the mound, running his fastball at 86-87 mph, topping at 88 with arm-side run. He showed command of a glove-side breaking ball with wipeout characteristics (21” HM), while also mixing in a heavy changeup with feel. Offensively, he showed advanced barrel control (85% OPE) with exit velocities up to 100 mph. 

Pitchers

+ RHP Tommy Driver (Ballston Spa, 2028):
Currently ranked No. 1 in the state’s 2028 class. Showed a poised, controlled presence with easy velocity and command of the fastball up to 92 mph with 22” of arm-side run. He paired it with a slider (-13” HM) and changeup (21” HM), both showing swing-and-miss traits. The 54th ranked prospect in the nation’s 2028 class.

+ RHP Riley Brooks (Colonie, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 11 in the state’s 2027 class, Brooks continues to trend up on the mound, working with an efficient delivery. His fastball sat 90-92 mph with life (2400 RPM, 17.8” of run), pairing it with a slider at 74-76 mph that showed sweep (-17” HM) and depth. He also mixed in a changeup at 79-82 mph with heavy action (12.9” HM) and feel. Athletic 5-foot-11, 182-pound frame.
