A game featuring two steroid programs across MD, #25 Linganore traveled to #11 Urbana for a big early spring matchup. Linganore jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first, highlighted by a RBI double off the bat of their power-hitting first baseman, 2025 Future Games alum, junior Jaidon Maxwell (Wake Forest). The Lancers would grab one more in the 2nd, as senior Chase Perry (UNC Asheville) followed a double by sophomore Reece Leader and a single by junior Blake Meyer with a RBI sac fly to push the lead to 3-0. That’s all the runs Urbana would give up in this contest, as the Hawks would bear down on the bump, led by junior Cam Forsythe out of the ‘pen who worked 3 scoreless innings while striking out 5 and only surrendering one hit. Urbana would tie the game in the bottom of the 2nd, highlighted by a 2-out RBI bloop single off the bat of 2025 Future Games alum, junior Trevor Collins. The Hawks grabbed three more in the bottom of the 3rd, largely in-part of three bases loaded walks to take a 6-3 lead. The big bang came from senior Billy Swaney (Harford CC) in the 5th, as the left-handed power threat sent a deep drive into left-center field for a bases-clearing double to put this game out of reach at 10-3. The Hawks would tack on a few more and win this one, 13-3.

#25 Linganore

Jaidon Maxwell 1B / RHP / Linganore High, MD / 2027

The Wake Forest commit has arguably been my top hitter that I’ve seen with my own eyes this spring, and following an early look against Liberty in early March where he went 3-for-3 with a homerun and two doubles, Maxwell followed that up with another extra base hit in last night’s game against Urbana. There’s no doubt that the power is legit, and the big right-handed hitter has shown the consistent ability to showcase that power to all fields, dating back to a standout performance at last year’s Future Games where he deposited a fastball backside over the right field wall. The body control, pitch selection, and heaviness in the barrel are things that stick out right away at the dish, as the approach continues to be sound and the strength to both gaps is unquestioned. As this frame continues to fill out, look for Maxwell to add his name as one of the state’s best in recent years in terms of legit power output offensively.

Chase Perry SS / Linganore, MD / 2026

My second look at Perry early this spring, the athletic middle infielder has impressed in each look, as the UNC Asheville commit is the epitome of a table-setter at the top of this Linganore lineup and a reliable glove in the middle of the diamond. It’s a balanced setup at the dish with quiet, yet explosive hands through contact that yields strength to the middle of the field. The barrel feel and awareness has continued to tick up over the past few years, and the consistency in the approach is something that definitely grabbed my attention early this spring. It’s an athletic makeup that should see quality playing time early at the next level, and look for the glove to play as a versatile option at multiple defensive positions.

#11 Urbana

Jake Allen OF / LHP / Urbana High, MD / 2026

One of my favorites from our preseason showcases, Jake Allen has absurd power and the ability to get on barrel consistently is something that stands out not only during BP, but also in-game. Something that I hadn’t seen before from Allen that may have been the most impressive AB all night was in the 2nd inning, as Allen stayed on a tough 2 strike fastball and served a single backside down the third base line for a single. If this approach remains consistent, the big left-handed bat will be a tough out all spring long. Later in the game, Allen showcased his present strength with one of the loudest barrels of the game, ambushing a first pitch fastball for a bolt up the middle for his second knock of the game. Still uncommitted and a name to circle this spring.

Trevor Collins C / SS / Urbana High, MD / 2027

The 2025 Future Games alum has been one the up and up ever since last summer, and look for his strong spring to continue. A switch-hitting, versatile defender, Collins brings a ton to the table when it comes to impact, and this hit tool continues to shine in each look. It’s an aggressive, yet controlled approach at the plate with present power to the pull side gap with more to come as the body continues to mature, and the hand speed/barrel feel only add to the power upside. Finished 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and 2 walks.

Ryan Yagesh 3B / RHP / Urbana High, MD / 2028

Yet another standout at our preseason showcases, the young, yet massive 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore showcased the hit tool in Tuesday’s game, and the approach was certainly impressive. The approach is to the middle with the ability to shorten up late in counts and find the barrel. Power output is steadily on the rise, and the more AB’s that get under Yagesh’s belt will only bode well for more power in the near future. Yet to see the arm talent this spring, the big fella also features an upper 80s fastball that only adds to his likeness.

Billy Swaney OF / C / Urbana High, MD / 2026

Our staff has been fans of the Harford Community College commit for some time now, and entering his senior season, the body and strength have taken a huge step up. This is a true gap-to-gap power bat with the ability to spray line drives to the alleys with consistent backspin that yields even more power output. The approach and pitch selection opened my eyes all game long, and as the barrel feel increases throughout the spring, Swaney has every chance of becoming one of the state’s most notable hitters across the 2026 high school season in Maryland.

Aiden Welch 2B / SS / Urbana High school, MD / 2026

A top-of-the-order table-setter for this Urbana lineup, the Potomac State commit continues to showcase quality bat-to-ball skills with the ability to work counts, draw walks, and spray line drives to all fields. It’s a balanced approach at the plate, staying short to the ball with line drive tendencies, staying true to his approach. A high-contact type, look for Welch to transfer extremely well at the next level, as the contact rate and approach should stay steady. Finished 2-for-2 with a RBI and 3 walks.
