2026 PA Preseason ID: Southeast (Session 2): Takeaways

On Sunday, February 22nd, the Prep Baseball New Pennsylvania staff hosted the 2026 PA Preseason ID: Southeast (Session 2) at In the Net in Palymra, PA. Over 160 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of players to follow in Pennsylvania this upcoming spring.

We begin our post-event content today with our quick hits from the event, highlighting some of the notable players from the day and their numbers.

Position Players

+ OF Tyler Ryan (Malvern Prep, 2028)
Currently ranked 9th overall in the state’s 2028 rankings, the 5-foot-9 and 170-pound outfielder is pound-for-pound one of the state’s most explosive and dynamic players. Ryan continued to tear up the scene with a 6.74 60-yard dash, 20.7 mph peak sprint-speed, 105.7 max exit velocity, 383 foot max distance, and a 95 mph arm strength from the outfielder. Be on the lookout for this 2028 prospect throughout the high school and summer seasons.

+ OF Keaton Barclay (Mercersburg Academy, 2027)
Currently ranked 74th overall in state’s 2027 rankings, the power-hitting outfielder stands at 5-foot-10 and 190-pounds. Barclay produced a staggering 104.0 mph max exit velocity and 410 foot max distance from a repeatable and explosive right-handed swing. Barclay also threw 89 mph from the outfield and displayed his athleticism with a 7.12 60-yard dash with a 19.2 peak sprint speed. Barclay has the power, frame, and athleticism to be an impact player at the next level.

+ OF Isaac Kreider (Cedar Crest, 2028)
Another impressive performance from the 29th ranked player in the state’s 2028 class rankings. Kreider has continued to display his athleticism, power, and arm strength development throughout the years. The outfielder ran a 7.11 60-yard dash, produced a 99.5 mph peak exit velocity, 331 foot max distance, and threw 85 mph from the outfield. 2028 prospect to follow this high school and summer season.

+ C Tim Lengle (Wilson, 2027)
Currently ranked 71st overall and the 10th catcher in the state’s 2027 class. Lengle boasts a physical frame of 6-foot-2 and 195-pounds and ran a personal best 60-yard dash time of 7.05 and was the second quickest time amongst the 28 catchers in the event. Lengle also popped the event’s quickest pop time of 1.94-2.01 alongside a 78 mph arm strength with a quick transfer from a traditional catching stance. At the plate, the LHH swung with the intent to do damage and damage was done. Lengle produced a max exit velocity of 99.2 mph and an average exit velocity of 87.2 mph. He drove the baseball in the air with power 70 percent of the time. Intriguing catcher to follow.

Two-ways

+ 3B/RHP Michael Schaffer (Episcopal Academy, 2028)
Currently ranked 8th overall in the state’s 2028 rankings, the 6-foot-2 and 195-pound two-way prospect has continued to take massive strides in the positive direction with the bat and on the mound. Offensively, Schaffer produced a 104.1 mph exit velocity and flashed his high-level ability to elevate the baseball with a 411 foot max distance. On the mound, he touched 87.4 mph while sitting 84-86 mph on the fastball. He also flashed his pitch-ability with his 3 off-speed pitches that include a 80-82 mph cutter, 74-75 mph slider, and a 75-78 mph changeup where he killed spin down to around 1,000-1,100 rpm. Must see talent out of Eastern Pennsylvania.

+ 3B/RHP Mason Cevette (Cedar Crest, 2028)
Currently ranked 2nd overall in the state and 29th nationally in the class 2028 rankings, Cevette is a 6-foot-4 and 215-pound two-way prospect that lights up the radar gun. On the mound, he sat 90-92 mph and topped 92.6 mph on his fastball that he spun up to 2,500 rpm. His pitch repertoire also contains a 75-79 mph curveball, an 81-84 mph slider with a 2,500 spin rate, and a 79-81 mph changeup. Offensively, Cevette displayed his high-level bat speed that produced a max exit velocity of 105.8 mph and a max distance of 419 feet. Can’t miss prospect out of the Keystone state.

+ 1B/LHP Grayson Fontaine (North Penn, 2028)
Currently ranked 6th overall and the No. 1 first baseman in the state’s 2028 rankings. Fontaine’s performance with the bat was loud and his execution on the mound was noteworthy. At the plate he displayed his next level power with an 106.9 mph exit velocity and 387 foot max distance from an aggressive yet controlled swing. On the mound, the southpaw flashed an upper 80s fastball that peaked at 90.4 mph. Fontaine also showcased a 73-76 mph slider with up to 15 inches of sweep and a changeup at 78-80 mph. The sophomore continues to impress heading into the start of the high school season.

Pitchers

+ RHP Aaron Gaskey (Greater Latrobe)
Currently ranked 16th in state’s 2028 rankings, Gaskey boasts a physical frame of 6-foot-2 and 218-pounds. The right-hander showcased his electric pitch arsenal which contained a high-spin fastball that peaked at 2,391 rpm. Gaskey’s high-octane pitch arsenal consists of a 90-91 mph fastball and topped at 92.1 mph, a slider at 77-80 mph which was spun up to 2,469 rpm, a 2,426 rpm curveball at 71-74 mph, an 81-82 mph changeup, and a sinker at 85-87 mph which had noticeable arm side run. Gaskey has added 5 mph on his fastball since August, keep an eye on this RHP to continue to turn heads.

+ LHP Vincent Leoni (Bishop McDevitt, 2028)
Currently ranked 38th in the state’s 2028 rankings, an uber athletic 5-foot-7 and 165-pounds with quick-twitch movement patterns on the mound. The wiry left-hander showed off his off-season progress with an 8 mph increase in his fastball velocity from a year ago. His fastball sat 90-91 mph and peaked at 91.2 mph while showcasing his feel for the strike zone. Leoni’s off-speeds consist of a 74-75 mph slider, and a changeup at 77-79 mph. Look out for Leoni this high school season showcasing his off-season gains.

+ RHP Peyton Price (Cedar Cliff, 2027)
Currently ranked 20th overall in the state’s 2027 ranking, Price is a 2025 Future Games alum and one of the state’s top uncommitted players in the Keystone state. The 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed pitcher proved why he belongs in the conversation of one of the top arms in the state. Price’s command and pitch-ability are always dialed, and in this bullpen he also flashed his ability to light up the radar gun topping at 91 mph on his fastball. He flashed 5 distinct pitches including an 88-90 mph sinker, 76-79 mph curveball with a 2,300 spin rate, 81-83 mph slider with a 2,346 spin rate, and an 82-83 mph changeup. Price is a true starting pitcher that will continue to give his team 5 quality innings every start at any level.
