Mountain Brook edged Hueytown 6-5 on Tuesday, pulling ahead late in a tightly contested matchup that featured multiple lead changes. The game was tied at five heading into the eighth before Mountain Brook pushed across the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly to take the lead for good. Mountain Brook struck first in the opening inning, but Hueytown answered quickly with a two-run bottom half to move in front. The back-and-forth continued over the middle innings, with both teams trading runs and momentum as the score stayed close throughout. Mountain Brook tied the game again in the sixth before finally breaking through in the eighth. Strong relief pitching down the stretch locked in the one-run win, sealing a hard-fought victory in a game that remained undecided until the final innings.
Spain Park (7) vs. Briarwood Christian (1)
Spain Park pulled away from Briarwood Christian for a 7-1 win on Tuesday, using a decisive five-run fourth inning to take control of the game. The big frame included a mix of productive outs, an error, and a key hit that broke the game open and gave Spain Park a comfortable cushion. Briarwood Christian struck first in the opening inning, but Spain Park answered in the third to regain the lead before putting the game out of reach an inning later. From there, Spain Park’s pitching and defense took over, limiting scoring chances and preserving the advantage. Demopolis earned a dramatic 9-8 walk-off win over Gordo on Tuesday, capping a back-and-forth contest with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. Demopolis rallied from an early deficit, overcoming a 5–1 hole to pull even late before delivering the decisive blow. Gordo struck first in the opening inning and extended the lead to four runs in the third, putting pressure on the home side early. Demopolis answered with steady offense across the middle innings, gradually chipping away and eventually tying the game in the seventh. After both teams traded chances late, Demopolis finished it off in walk-off fashion in the ninth to secure the one-run victory. Both offenses were productive throughout, combining for more than 20 hits, but it was Demopolis that made the final swing count to complete the comeback.
Athens (5) vs. Deshler (4)
Athens edged Deshler 5-4 on Tuesday, breaking a tie late to secure the one-run victory. The game was knotted at four entering the eighth inning before Athens pushed across the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly. Deshler struck first in the opening inning, and the two teams traded runs over the middle innings in a back-and-forth contest. Athens pulled even in the seventh before finally moving in front an inning later. Strong relief pitching and clean defense down the stretch helped Athens protect the slim lead, sealing a tightly contested win in extra innings.
Vestavia Hills (3) vs. Huntsville (2)
Vestavia Hills edged Huntsville 3-2 on Tuesday in a tightly played, low-scoring contest dominated by pitching on both sides. The difference came in the fourth inning, when Vestavia Hills produced three runs to take control of the game. Huntsville kept the pressure on throughout, but Vestavia Hills’ pitching staff limited damage and worked out of key situations to protect the narrow lead. The defense also came up with timely plays, including a double play that helped preserve the advantage. In the end, the early burst proved enough as Vestavia Hills closed out the one-run win in a game where runs were at a premium from start to finish.
