The Prep Baseball Louisiana High School Pitcher of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a Louisiana high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please email Alex Armand at [email protected]

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wedensday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

Richardson becomes the first player this season to earn our Pitcher of the Week honors twice, and he did so in historic fashion in Week 9.

The Southern Miss Baseball recruit delivered a jaw-dropping performance last Tuesday against Kenner Discovery, tossing a complete-game no-hitter with 0 walks and 20 strikeouts on just 87 pitches (70% strikes). After the leadoff batter reached on an error, Richardson quickly erased him with a pickoff and then proceeded to strike out 20 consecutive hitters—an incredible display of dominance and efficiency.

On the season, he’s now racked up 120 strikeouts over 54 innings with a microscopic 0.26 ERA. Richardson’s combination of stuff, command, and competitiveness has him performing at an elite level as we head into the postseason.
