Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 3 Lincoln-Way East shut out No. 19 Lincoln-Way West 4-0 in Illinois's Power 25 matchup. Colin Bettenhausen (2027) pitched a complete game shutout only allowing two hits and striking out eight batters. He got help from the Griffins offense when four batters knocked in RBI hits. That includes Evan Riiff (2027; Valparaiso Commit) and Rocco Triolo (2027) each with RBI doubles, and Case Templin (2027) and Cooper Johnson (2027; Purdue Commit) each with RBI singles.

Trinity (KY) took down No. 4 Brother Rice 14-6. Brady Cunningham (2027; Texas A&M Commit) led the way for the Crusaders by knocking in the only RBIs of the contest. He went 3-for-3 with a double, single, two-run home run, a walk, and three RBIs.

No. 6 Libertyville defeated Barrington 10-5. The Wildcats offense was led by Braden Tolzien (2026; Heartland CC Commit), who went 2-for-2 with a double, single, two walks, a run, and three RBIs. Carson Holmes (2026) went 1-for-2 with a walk, run, and driving in a two-RBI double. Aksel McKnight (2027) went 1-for-3 with a walk and driving in a two-RBI double of his own. Matthew Hara (2027) and Trevor Wallace (2026; Ripon Commit) both knocked in RBI singles in this contest. Nico Harper (2026; Olivet Nazarene Commit) took the mound and pitched a quality start and earned the win by delivering 5.1 innings and striking out three batters.

No. 8 New Trier defeated Maine West 13-3. Michael Klem (2027) led the offense by going 2-for-2 with a double, single, walk, three stolen bases, two runs, and three RBIs. Jackie Ryder (2027) went 2-for-2 with a double, single, walk, two runs, and two RBIs. Peter Cusick (2027) went 1-for-3 with a run and a two-RBI single. Other contributors on offense include Chase Estrada (2029) with a sacrifice fly, Jullian Gonzalez an RBI single, Riley Cook (2028) an RBI double plus a stolen base, and Will Blomeier with two singles and a sacrifice fly. Ethan Killion (2028) started the first three innings and struck out three batters. Daniel Spilotro faced six batters and struck out three of them in his inning of relief.

St. Xavier (KY) shut out No. 13 Providence Catholic 10-0. Mason Almazan (2028), Landon Ehman (2026; Kankakee CC Commit), and Colton Carli (2027) provided the only hits for the Celtics in this contest, including a triple from Almazan.

No. 14 Nazareth Academy came from behind and beat Indian Rocks Christian (FL) 10-9. Brooks Kooken (2026) had a nice two-inning relief outing by fanning two batters without giving up a run. Giannluca Manfredini had a better relief outing by going 5.2 shutout innings and striking out five batters while only giving up two hits. For the offense, Drew Hyland (2026; Grand Valley State Commit) went 1-for-2 with a stolen base, bunt single, and two RBIs. Gavin Hartigan (2028) went 2-for-4 with a double, single, walk, stolen base, and an RBI. The game went onto extra innings where the score was tied at six. After Indian Rocks Christian scored three runs in the top of the tenth, the Roadrunners answered with four runs to walk off the game. Charlie Mohr hit in RBI single to decrease the deficit to two. The next batter, Marco Fiore (2028), hit the game-tying two-RBI single to tie the score at nine. Then, Mohr scored the winning run on a wild pitch to win this thrilling matchup.

No. 16 St. Joseph-Ogden routed St. Thomas More 12-0. Trevor Ames (2026; Morton JC Commit) and Cam Schluter (2026) both led the Spartans offense with a double, single, and three RBIs respectively. Bryson Houchens (2026; Morton JC Commit) went 2-for-2 with two singles, a walk, two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBIs. Finn Miller (2027) went 2-for-3 with two singles, a run, and two RBIs. Dalton York (2027) and Asher Pruemer (2026; Kaskaskia JC Commit) both hit RBI singles in this contest. York also took the mound and delivered a five-inning complete game shutout and struck out seven.

No. 20 Mascoutah routed Gibault Catholic 19-2. CJ Epps led the Indians offense by going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, double, sacrifice fly, hit by pitch, two runs, and four RBIs. Carson Moll (2026; Rend Lake JC Commit) was also a key performer by going 2-for-4 with a double, single, walk, two runs, and four RBIs. Gabe James (2027) went 2-for-4 with two singles, walk, hit by pitch, stolen base, three runs, and two RBIs. Nathan Walker (2026; Southwestern Illinois JC Commit) went 2-for-4 with two RBI singles, two stolen bases, and a run. Darren Klein (2027) walked three times (one with the bases loaded) and hit a sacrifice fly while scoring two runs. Brandon Klein (2029) pitched a quality start by throwing six innings and striking out four, which earned him the win.

No. 21 Lane Tech came from behind and won against Evanston 8-7 in extra innings. Charles Lust (2027) got the start and tossed five innings and struck out six batters. Paris Head (2029) pitched the seventh and eighth inning and struck out four batters without giving up a run, which earned him the win. RBI singles came from Jacob DeVinney (2026; St. Mary's (MN) Commit), Alex Zeigler (2026; Grinnell Commit), and Eric Acevedo (2027) before the rally. Then, in the bottom of the sixth after Evanston put up a six spot in the top of the inning, the Champions answered with four runs, including an RBI single from Paris Head, a two-RBI single from Tanner Toback (2027), and a wild pitch allowing Toback to score the game-tying run. In the bottom of the eighth, Alex Zeigler hit the walk-off RBI single to seal this contest.

Lyons upset No. 23 Oak Park-River Forest, winning 9-2. Abraham Caseres (2027) got the scoring started for Lyons in the bottom of the second, hitting a double that drove in three run. Lou Ratcliffe had a perfect day at the plate, finishing the day 3-for-3 with a HR, 3 RBIs, with 2 runs scored. Tommy Cavaliere (2029) got the start and the win, throwing 3.2 innings with two hits, three walks, two runs (one earned) allowed, and punching out seven. Owen Cypress (2027) and Evan Gardner (2027) put together two innngs combined in relief to cap off the win.

No. 24 McHenry and Harlem tied 8-8 in a shortened game that finished in six innings. Finn Stovall (2026, Rock Valley JC; 2-for-2, HR, 2 BB, 4 RBIs) put Harlem out in front early in the game, slugging a three-run home run in the first inning. Ryan Miller (2026, Carroll; 2-for-4, 2B 3 RBIs) would bring across three more in the second on a double, with Harlem eventually extending their lead to 8-0 by the end of the second. McHenry would eventually come back around to tie it, taking advantage of six walks in the fourth to bring in seven runs, eventually tying it in the fiifth. Aiden Mueller brought in a three runs for McHenry, finishing the day 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs, which included the game tying sacrific fly in the fifth.

No.25 Loyola Academy was defeated by North Oldham (KY), losing by a score of 4-2. Bennett Kono (2028) saw the ball well at the plate and collected half of Loyola's six hits, finishing the day 3-for-3 with a double, walk, and driving in a run. Langston Booth (2027) was dominant in his two innings of relief, allowing no hits, one walk, and striking out five.

Arcola defeated Okaw Valley 3-2. Brevyn Whisman (2026) had a big day on both sides of the ball; going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI with the bat, while punching out 13 over six innings on the mound.

Bartlett defeated Glenbard East 3-2. Brandon Pelz (2026; Valparaiso) punched out 11 over six innings, while allowing one earned run on six hits and two walks. Vince Yario (2026; Harper JC) swatted a three-run homer that led to the victory for Bartlett.

Belvidere North edged Kaneland in a tight contest, 6–5. Andrew Bucci (2026) and Cade Kreczmer (2027) collected two hits and an RBI each, and Walker Paulson (2026; Beloit) added a double. Tanner Walton (2027) got the start on the bump and went five innings, allowing six hits, four runs, two earned, and striking out two. Konon Baxley (2028) collected three hits and two runs scored for Kaneland.

DePaul College Prep defeated De La Salle by the score of 4-1. Owen Rog (2026; Maryville) went 2-for-3 in the game with two RBI, and Nolan Hecht (2028) collected a pair of hits, including a double. On the mound, Hecht earned the win, tossing 6.2 innings while striking out nine, walking four, allowing no earned runs and one hit.

Downers Grove North took down York 7-3 with help from a five-run second inning. Emilio Gandarilla (2026; Des Moines CC; 2-for-4, 2 RBI, R), Sam Marshall (2027; 2-for-4, 2 RBI), Oliver Gibson (2027; 2-for-3, 2 R, SB) and Jack Romsey (2026; 2-for-3, RBI, 2 R) each collected two hits. Will Tomy (2027) got the victory on the mound going four innings, allowing three hits and one run, while striking out three.

Dunlap defeated Ottawa by the score of 7-1. Eli Michanicou (2027) went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two RBI and one run scored. Truman Tyra (2026) had a strong day at the plate as well, collecting three hits, two RBI and two runs scored, while Landon Gray (2026; Luther College) tallied a double and two RBI.

Effingham defeated Dieterich by the score of 4-3, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. Wyatt Hayes (2026) tossed five innings on the mound in relief, earning the win, while collecting eight strikeouts, one walk, no earned runs and two hits. Andrew Wagoner (2026; Parkland JC) homered in the game, tallying one RBI and two runs scored, while Carter Braddy (2027) added a double with two RBI.

Jacob Robinson tossed four innings of two-run ball, off one hit and three walks, while notching a pair of punchouts.

Freeburg shutout Columbia 10-0. Trey Tampow (2028) led the offense, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Liam Scaiefe (2027) earned the complete game (five innings) win, scattering four hits and a walk, while punching out six.

Geneseo defeated Metamora 10-3, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first and five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Jaydon Burrage (2027) went 3-for-4 in the game with a home run, double, four RBI and two runs scored. Keaton Ariano (2027) went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored.

Genoa-Kingston held on to beat Winnebago 5-3. Lane Davidson (2027; 2-for-4, 3B, 2RBI) and Jacob Rutkowski (3-for-4, RBI, R) powered the offense. Charlie Wagner (2026) got the start and the victory on the mound going 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and one run, while striking out four.

Joliet West ended Minooka's nine-game streak of wins on the road, dating back to last year, 2-0. Keegan Schwarting (2027) led Joliet West, throwing a shutout game while only giving up four hits. Schwarting hasn't given up more than one earned run in his last four appearances.

Lincoln-Way Central took down Wilmington 11-5. Connor McCabe (2026; Illinois Wesleyan) and Desmond Gill (2028) each had three hits in the victory for the Knights.

Monticello defeated Tolono Unity by the score of 9-7, moving to 13-0 on the year. Forrest Rawdin (2027) led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, six RBI, two runs scored and a walk. On the mound, Dawson Gaistros (2027) tossed two innings in relief and struck out two, while allowing no runs or hits.

Naperville Central took Down Hinsdale Central 5-3 on Thursday. Jermaine Kenady (2027; 2-for-2, 1R) and Ashton Feldott (2026; 2-for-3, 1RBI) led the Naperville Central offense. Dylan Kassab (2026) put up a fight for Hinsdale central. Going 2-for-4 with a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth. Decker McDonald (2027) earned the win for Naperville Central, surrendering four hits, one run, and striking out 2 over three and two-thirds innings.

Rockridge defeated Sherrard by the score of 13-10. Cullen Schwigen (2027) went 2-for-5 at the plate with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Tanner Dye (2026) added three hits and three runs scored. On the mound, Schwigen tossed 2.1 innings in relief, struck out four, and allowed no walks, runs or hits.
