Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week: Callum Morrison

By: Peter Hamot
Assistant Scouting Director, Illinois & Wisconsin

Unsigned senior Callum Morrison has long been a workhorse for the Scouts, helping them to a dominant 9-2 start on the year. He put up arguably the best outing of his young career last week, firing a no-hitter while also breaking the career strikeouts record and career appearances record for Lake Forest. For his efforts, Morrison has been named this week’s Pitcher of the Week.

The southpaw fired a no-hitter to open up conference play against Warren, taking them down by a score of 6-0. In seven innings, Morrison struck out an eye-opening 14 opposing hitters while walking five without allowing a hit or a run.

Still uncommitted, Morrison is a must-know name for schools looking for a dynamic left-hander. The fastball will play into the upper 80s with natural arm-side run, setting up a fading changeup with confidence as well as a bullet slider in the low-70s. He creates a tough look with a lower slot, and there looks to be more in the tank for the 6-foot, 170-pound prospect.
