Notable Recaps from Thursday

Millennium (9) vs. Liberty (7)
Millennium erased a five run deficit to rally past Liberty 9-7 on Thursday in a back and forth contest that featured patience at the plate and timely power. Liberty jumped out early, plating runs in each of the first three innings behind RBI walks and a run scoring double to build a commanding advantage. Millennium began chipping away in the fourth when Perrin delivered an inside the park home run to spark the comeback. The Tigers flipped the game in the fifth after Perez doubled to center and Cuen followed with an RBI single to move in front. Burgess added a solo home run in the sixth for insurance. Nevarez provided steady relief work, striking out five over four innings to help secure the win. Perrin and Burgess each drove in two runs, and Millennium played clean defense without committing an error to complete the comeback victory.

Cactus Shadows (8) vs. Catalina Foothills (5)
Cactus Shadows secured an 8-5 win over Catalina Foothills, using a six run fourth inning to seize control. Konerko set the tone early with a solo home run in the first, but Catalina Foothills answered with a four run second highlighted by a three run home run. The Falcons responded in the fourth with five hits in the inning, including a three run blast to right field from Marquez that swung momentum decisively. Cactus Shadows finished with 10 hits on the night, with Marquez, Palma, and Colao each collecting multiple knocks. The bullpen combination of Camas, Anderson, and Scheuler shut down late threats to preserve the victory as the Falcons also applied pressure on the bases with five stolen bases.

Desert Vista (9) vs. Tucson High Magnet School (4)
Desert Vista pulled away with a decisive third inning to defeat Tucson High Magnet School 9-4 on Thursday. The Thunder broke the game open with a seven run frame fueled by disciplined at bats, timely singles, a sacrifice fly, and aggressive baserunning. Romaine delivered a key bases clearing single during the rally, while Droz reached multiple times and added an RBI double. Lehman earned the win with four scoreless innings, limiting traffic and keeping Tucson off the board early. Desert Vista received contributions throughout the lineup, and the bullpen combination of Romaine and Schumacher helped manage the late innings to close out the five run victory.

Canyon del Oro (11) vs. Desert Ridge (6)
Canyon del Oro rode a monster performance from Carson to an 11-6 win over Desert Ridge. Carson drove in five runs on three hits, including a grand slam to center field in the fourth inning that broke the game open. The Dorados struck early in the first with a string of extra base hits and free passes before Desert Ridge briefly tied the game in the third following a defensive miscue. Canyon del Oro responded immediately, reclaiming control with an RBI single from Adams before Carson’s grand slam extended the lead. Rivero added a two run home run in the sixth for additional separation. Adams earned the win, working six innings while striking out five, as Canyon del Oro finished with 12 hits in a strong offensive showing.

Brophy College Prep (4) vs. Queen Creek (1)
Brophy leaned on dominant pitching to earn a 4-1 victory over Queen Creek on Thursday. O’Brien struck out 10 over five innings, allowing just one hit and one run to set the tone on the mound. Brophy opened the scoring in the first on a sacrifice fly before Queen Creek briefly tied the game with a solo home run in the third. The Broncos responded in the fifth, manufacturing two runs to regain the lead before adding insurance later in the frame. McGuire closed the door with two scoreless innings in relief. Holder drove in two runs to pace the offense, while Brophy played clean defense behind its pitching staff to secure the win.
