2026 AAA Team Preview: Riverview Raiders

Prep Baseball Arkansas Staff

The Arkansas high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 2, opening day for regular season action under AAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Arkansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2026 preseason coverage continues today.

Top Returners:

  • Shannon Moore (2027) - SS/P, 5'10 170, R/R.
    • Great Athlete. Had some arm issues last year, but expecting great things from him this season.
  • Weston Gordon - P/UTL, 5'8 170, R/R.
    • Has had great seasons the past two years. Has worked hard in the offseason to get stronger. Can play several positions.
  • Kyrin Powers - P/1B, 5'11 185, L/L.
    • One of our top arms on the mound. Bat really got better last year and has worked hard in the offseason to keep improving.

Top Newcomers:

  • Layton Miller (2029) - P/UTL, 6'2 185, R/R.
    • Will pitch some for us and play somewhere in the field when not on the mound. Big, strong kid that comes in and works hard every day.

Coach’s Insight: “This is the first year where we have a lot of experience coming back. We return all 9 starters from last year. We are a junior heavy team and the majority of them have been in the program since 7th grade. 7 of the 9 starters have been starting since 9th grade. We had a little bit of a sophomore slump last year, but the guys have been working hard to make sure that doesn't happen again. We have 11 juniors, 1 freshman, and 1 senior that could all start on any day. I look forward to getting the basketball guys out full time to see the competition that we are going to have in practice. A lot of of our guys are still working on their swings. We had a little bit of a down year last year hitting the ball. We know they can do it, but a lot of times it didn't translate to the games. That is something we have been working hard on in the offseason to get the guys confident at the plate.” – Jason Miner, head coach
