PB Alabama Announces the 2026 Yellowhammer State Games
February 27, 2026
ALABAMA - The 2026 Prep Baseball Yellowhammer State Games return this summer for Year 3, continuing to establish themselves as the premier identification events on the Prep Baseball calendar. The two-day, invite-only event will be held June 16-17, 2026, and for the first time, the State Games will call River Run Park home. Located in Northport, the brand-new complex provides a fitting stage for Alabama’s top underclass talent to compete and separate themselves in a pro-style environment.
Built to spotlight the state’s premier prospects, the Yellowhammer State Games are designed specifically for players in the 2027-2030 classes. Rosters are assembled by grad class, allowing evaluators to see players compete against their peers and helping answer the question of who the pound-for-pound top prospects are in Alabama. Each summer, the event serves as a critical checkpoint in the long-term evaluation process for underclass players across the state.
The event opens on Tuesday, June 16, with all position players participating in a pro-style workout during the morning session. Following the workout, players will be placed onto teams, constructed by the Prep Baseball Alabama staff, and gameplay will begin later that day. Competition continues on Wednesday, June 17, with additional games scheduled, giving each player two total game opportunities across the event. All lineups, pitching plans, and rosters are managed by Prep Baseball Alabama to ensure balanced competition and optimal evaluation settings.
The Yellowhammer State Games also serve a much larger purpose within the Prep Baseball summer pipeline. Every summer event functions as a tryout for the two most heavily recruited stages on the national calendar: the Future Games and the Yellowhammer State Games themselves. The Future Games, held each July at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA, is the nation’s largest recruiting event, and in 2026 it will feature the top 2027, 2028, and 2030 prospects from across the country.
That pathway has already proven effective. Over the first two years of the Yellowhammer State Games, 201 total college commitments have been secured by event alumni, reinforcing the State Games’ role as a launching point for Alabama prospects with aspirations of reaching the Future Games and beyond.
More details, including invitations, rosters, and event coverage, will be released in the coming months as the 2026 Yellowhammer State Games draw closer. The first wave of invitations has already been sent, and registrations are beginning to come in. If you have received an invite, do not wait to secure your spot, this event has sold out each of the first two years and is expected to reach capacity again in 2026. If you have not yet received an invitation but believe you should be considered, you can request an invite using the link below. Our staff will continue to evaluate players throughout the spring season as we finalize the roster for this summer’s premier underclass event.
