PREP BASEBALL LOUISIANA POWER 25 RANKINGS (WEEK 3 UPDATE)

The Louisiana high school baseball season kicked off on Monday February 9, 2026 with regular season action beginning under LHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Louisiana Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Since Opening Day, our scouts have been out and about covering the 2026 season and will be publishing scout blogs and additional in-season content, such as our Power 25 updates, Player of the Week awards, Scout Blogs, Diamond Notes, and more.

The Top 5

 

The Top 5 has undergone some minor changes after the third week of the high school season, but our #1 team remains the same for the second straight week with Barbe. The Bucs swept Covenant Christian Academy in their three-game series last weekend to push their overall record to 12-1. The Bucs only allowed one run over the course of the three games against the Lions, adn received stellar pitching performances from senior J.D. Alexander, junior Lawton Littleton, and freshman Reed Sawyer. 

Sam Houston went 4-0 last week and check in at the #2 spot in this week's update. The Broncos beat South Beauregard last Tuesday, before a three-game sweep of Fontainebleau over the weekend.

Catholic BR stays put at #3 in this update after winning all four of their games last week to remain undefeated at 11-0. The Bears took down Slidell in the midweek, before a three-game sweep of Vandebilt Catholic. Senior Kooper Childs went a perfect 5-for-5 with 2 doubles and 4 runs batted in last week.

John Curtis Christian continues to make their way up the rankings and they move up a spot to #4 in this update. The Patriots have been red-hot as of late and are currently on a ten game winning streak going into Week 4. The Patriots won all four of their games last week with their biggest being a 2-1 win over Faith Academy (AL). 

Brother Martin moves up in this update as well to the #5 spot. The Crusaders are currently on an eleven game winning streak to put their overall record at 12-1 heading into Week 4. They won all five of their games last week with big wins over top programs such as University Lab, Dutchtown, and Live Oak.

 

Risers

 + Holy Cross moves into the Top-10 after going 4-0 last week.  The Tigers picked up a big win over Mandeville last Tuesday, before taking down a couple of out of state programs in Faith Academy (AL) and Saraland (AL) over the weekend. Senior Dominic Pellegrin went 4-for-8 (.500) with a home run, double, 3 runs batted in, and 5 runs scored last week.

+ Northshore got back on track last week, winning all four of their games against local foes Pope John Paul II, Loranger, Covington, and St. Thomas Aquinas. Sophomore Cale Bricker made his return to the mound last week and tossed 5 innings allowing only 1 earned run on 4 hits with 0 walks and 8 strikeouts.

+ North DeSoto, the defending Non-Select Division II State Champion, enters the rankings for the first time this year at the #25 spot. The Griffins have been on a roll, as they've won their last five games in a row. Last week, they picked up key wins over Alexandria Senior High, Tioga, and Pineville.
