Top-ranked Bishop Gorman utilized a staggering 12-run first inning to overwhelm Bonanza 18-3 on Wednesday. The Gaels’ high-octane offense pounded out 15 hits and drew five walks, ending the contest in a four-inning mercy rule.
The game was effectively decided in the opening frame as the Gaels batted around, highlighted by a solo home run from Alec Kajioka. Junior Chase Wilk, who recently showcased a massive 102.3 MPH max exit velocity at the 2026 Super 60 Pro Showcase, added a two-run double to the barrage. Freshmen Ajay Hermosura and Justin Rodrigues provided the middle-order muscle, each delivering a triple and combining for five RBIs. Christian Balistere and Soren Savarda combined for four hits. Faith Lutheran evened the series with a thrilling 9-8 victory over Palo Verde on Wednesday. In a high-scoring affair that featured 25 combined hits, the Crusaders utilized a five-run fourth inning to reclaim the lead and held off a late Panther rally to secure the split.
The star of the game was senior Macen Collura, who delivered a monster performance at the plate. Collura finished a perfect 4-for-4, falling just a double short of the cycle, while racking up five RBIs and a solo home run. Jameson Day added to the power display with a solo home run of his own. Dylan Othick earned the win on the mound, while Sawyer Violand and Leighton Canarelli provided key relief innings. The story of the game was sophomore Jayson Marquez, who provided the definitive power with a solo home run while finishing 2-for-4. Senior Lincoln Guillermo anchored the top of the lineup, recording two hits and two RBIs, including a double. On the mound, Crue Smith delivered a brilliant performance, striking out eight batters over six innings without allowing an earned run. The story of the game was senior Hudson Inouye, who delivered a clinical performance on the mound. Inouye, who currently ranks in the top 25 in Nevada for strikeouts, worked efficiently against the Foothill lineup over seven innings, surrendering only one earned run and striking out 10. At the plate, senior Hudson Jones and junior Matthew Smoot provided the veteran leadership, while Mariano Rodriguez earned the win in relief. The story of the game was Sammy Mendoza, who turned in a masterful performance on the hill. Mendoza tossed a full seven innings, surrendering just one run on five hits while needing only 75 pitches to dismantle the Boulder City lineup. Offensively, Anthony Montanez ignited the Trojan attack with a 3-for-4 day, continuing a strong senior campaign where he has been a consistent table-setter.
