14u D1

Champion: 14u Prime 27:17 - Black

Prime is back in familiar territory this weekend winning their 3rd straight 14u D1 championship and having been out to their games it isn’t hard to see why. This is a team that does the little things right at a high level. They throw strikes, notably Devin Bush had a stellar weekend on the mound logging 6 ⅓ IP with only 1ER and 1BB to 7Ks followed by 2-way AJ Gutierrez going 6 ⅔ IP without allowing an earned run on the hill. They play sound defense headlined by AJ Gutierrez at SS and a strong OF core. Lastly they produce good at bats from top to bottom. The heart of the lineup features JJ Lundell, Chaseton Brown, Greyson Wilson, and AJ Gutierrez with some tough outs to round out the lineup in Caleb Grisby and Creighton Lutt. It has become clear to everyone at PBKC that Prime is the team to beat at the 14u level in the area and it’s gonna take a consistent full team effort to dethrone them.

Finalist: 14u Inside Edge - Asher

Inside Edge turned out another quality performance in the Showdown behind a strong core of position players. Headlined by 2-way Kaysen Barber who logged 5 innings of shutout baseball on the hill with 9Ks/3BBs and a .300AVG at the plate including 2 hits in the championship bout. Barber is followed by Blake Sampson (.416 OBP) , Eli McDaniel (.500 AVG) and Hudson Findlay (.545 OBP) in the heart of the order. If the pitching and defense can continue to pace this strong core Inside Edge will continue to find themselves playing deep into Sunday the rest of the spring.

14u D2

Champion: Bros Baseball 14u  - Guccione

Bros Baseball won their first KC championship behind a nuclear offense that averaged 12 runs a game through their 5 game weekend followed by some sound defense in the infield across the board. The top 6 in the lineup tearing the cover off the ball were as follows: Cooper Brumfield (7H, .550OBP), Max Montgomery (4H, .733OBP), Brody Laveroni (9H, 3XBH, .550OBP), Sammy Wood-Terry (6H, .470OBP), Creed Hall (5H, .529OBP), and Abraham Illig (7H, .687OBP). This lineup is undoubtedly good enough to take the leap into D1 and bang with the best of them and I hope to see them make that jump sometime later this spring.

Finalist: Engaged Athletics - Black

Engaged Athletics played up to the moment whenever needed in order to make a deep run in the Showdown this weekend. Timely hitting and defense shone throughout the 5 game set with key contributions from all over the roster. Look for Engaged to continue to find themselves deep in tournaments the rest of the spring.

14u D3

Champion: MMW Missouri National

MMW went on a dominant 4 game stretch to win the D3 showdown with a final run differential of +36 winning each game by 7+ runs. This run was powered by a strong duo of hitters in Sean Mills and Vedder Arrington and a consistent team effort on the mound all weekend long.

Finalist: Zarda Dairy Milkmen

The Milkmen delivered a strong showing in their first tournament with PBKC for the year with strong team hitting as well as pitching with 10 different arms taking the hill over the 4 game stretch. This is a team poised to win that will continue to find themselves deep into weekends in D3 and I look forward to seeing how their spring continues.
