#PBNV Players and Pitcher of the Week (Week 7)

Nevada - With the 2026 high school season officially underway, it’s time to recognize the standout performances that helped set the tone across the Silver State in the Opening Week.

Each week this spring, we will name an Nevada Player of the Week and Nevada Pitcher of the Week, honoring the top individual performances from around the state. These awards are based entirely on nominations submitted by high school coaches, highlighting the athletes who delivered when it mattered most during game action.

From dominant outings on the mound to explosive performances at the plate, Week 7 brought no shortage of impact performances. Now, it’s time to spotlight Week 7 honorees of the 2026 season.

 

Player of the Week Spotlight: Isaiah Alba 

Green Valley standout Isaiah Alba has been an absolute force at the plate over the last week, providing the consistency and spark necessary for the Gators' late-season momentum. Alba’s recent stretch was highlighted by an elite performance on April 17th, where he went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored to secure a 9-6 victory. Over his last three contests, Alba has been nearly impossible to retire, collecting seven hits and showcasing a clinical approach that has seen his batting average skyrocket during league play. His ability to find the gaps and create scoring opportunities has made him a vital catalyst in the Green Valley order.

Alba’s season-long body of work reflects a player who has mastered the art of getting on base. Through 106 plate appearances, he has maintained a robust .341 batting average and a stellar .453 On-Base Percentage. A true "table-setter", Alba has racked up 30 hits on the season, including 9 doubles and 3 triples. Perhaps most impressive is his poise under pressure; even in tough matchups against Desert Oasis and Basic, Alba remained a consistent threat, recording multiple hits and proving his durability as one of the most reliable bats in the 5A Desert Region.

Pitcher of the Week Spotlight: Chase Spencer

Reed High School standout Chase Spencer turned in one of the most dominant pitching performances in Northern Nevada this season on April 16th, leading the Raiders to a 4-1 victory over Douglas. Spencer was in complete command from the first pitch, tossing 6.1 stellar innings and surrendering only two hits. The definitive highlight of the outing was Spencer’s ability to miss bats; he racked up a career-high 14 strikeouts, effectively silencing the Douglas lineup. By attacking the zone with precision and a devastating strikeout pitch, Spencer earned his second win of the season and underscored his status as the definitive ace of the Reed rotation.

Spencer’s season-long body of work reflects a premier power pitcher who consistently challenges opposing hitters. Through 37.0 innings of work, he has amassed a staggering 66 strikeouts, maintaining an elite average of nearly 1.8 strikeouts per inning. His durability has been a key asset for the Raiders, as evidenced by his 112-pitch effort against Douglas and multiple outings exceeding 6 innings. With a season ERA of 3.22 and an Opponent Batting Average (OBA) of .191, Spencer has proven that he can go toe-to-toe with the best lineups in the state and emerge victorious.
