St. Paul's Episcopal (5) vs. Mobile Christian (4)
St. Paul’s Episcopal edged Mobile Christian 5-4 on Friday to punch its playoff ticket. Mobile Christian struck first with a two-run single from Alex Gaston, but the Saints answered and eventually took control in the fifth inning when a fielder’s choice brought in two runs to give them the lead. John Stowers earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing four runs while striking out four. Offensively, Sims Brown and Evan Hawarah each collected two hits, while Stowers, Tate Johnston, and Tate Farrell each drove in a run. St. Paul’s also applied pressure on the bases with four stolen bases, doing just enough to hold off Mobile Christian late.
Florence (2) vs. Bob Jones (0)
Florence shut out Bob Jones 2-0 on Friday, combining for a strong two-pitcher performance. In a tightly contested game, Florence broke through in the fifth inning when Austin Klotzbach delivered a two-run single, accounting for all the scoring. Freshman Coston Mahan set the tone with five scoreless innings to earn the win, and Klotzbach closed it out to secure the save. The duo limited Bob Jones despite a solid outing from Joshua Wilhide, who struck out nine over seven innings. Klotzbach drove in both runs, while Mahan added a multi-hit performance. Florence also applied pressure on the bases with four stolen bases in the win.
Providence Christian (3) vs. Wicksburg (0)
Providence Christian captured the area championship with a 3-0 win over Wicksburg on Friday behind a dominant shutout performance. Kingston Sims was outstanding on the mound, leading the Eagles to the title with a complete-game shutout while striking out seven. In a scoreless game into the late innings, Providence Christian broke through in the sixth when Charlie Cannon delivered a two-run double, followed by an RBI single from Sims to provide all the offense needed. Cannon finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the lineup, while the Eagles backed their pitching with clean defense to secure the championship win.
