2026 Prep Baseball Kansas POWER 25 - WEEK 5

It is a massive week ahead in the Sunflower State, with two of the season’s premier tournaments the River City Festival and the De Soto/Gardner Spring Classic, on deck for the weekend. Before that loaded slate begins, we have updated our Power 25 following a rain-soaked week of action.

A new number one has emerged at the top of the rankings, as Olathe East takes over the top spot. Moving to 15-0, the Hawks now stand alone as the only remaining undefeated large school in the state. Following closely behind are St. Thomas Aquinas and Blue Valley, which both slide into the top three, while Mill Valley and Mulvane round out the top five.

Further down the list, Maize climbs one position to No. 6, while Lawrence Free State drops one spot to No. 7. Olathe West moves up to No. 8 following a major victory over previously unbeaten Mill Valley. Meanwhile, Piper and Manhattan both break into the top ten at No. 9 and No. 10 as they continue to stack up wins, while Blue Valley West and Olathe South fall out of the top ten.

The middle of the rankings remained relatively stable as Western Kansas programs continue to handle business, but the update does welcome two new faces: Pratt at No. 16 and Jefferson West at No. 17. Pratt looks like a legitimate 4A title contender at 11-1, riding an eight-game winning streak with their only blemish coming against Great Bend. Jefferson West has been equally dominant in 3A, moving to 13-0 while scoring double-digit runs in nine of those contests.

It was a difficult week for Olathe South and Shawnee Heights, which dropped to No. 21 and No. 24, respectively. Conversely, Goddard and Girard make their rankings debuts at No. 23 and No. 25. Goddard sits at 9-2 with wins over Maize South and Kapaun Mt. Carmel, most recently coming off a sweep of rival Eisenhower. The Lions could continue to see their stock rise as they continue to prove themselves against Wichita's top teams. Girard remains perfect at 13-0, boasting one of the top pitching staffs in 3A and are fresh off a notable victory over 5A Pittsburg.
