5.0 IP | 0 H | 0 R | 1 BB | 5 K | W Taking home this week’s pitching award is 2027 RHP Jakob Reed out of St. Xavier High School. The 2025 Future Games standout turned in an extra efficient and dominant outing, tossing a complete game no-hitter in a run-rule victory over then #11 ranked Male. The 5’8” 153-pound right-hander was in complete control all game long, working 5.0 innings and allowing no hits and no runs, with just one walk and five strikeouts. Reed needed only 48 pitches to finish the job, attacking the zone early and often while keeping hitters off balance throughout. Reed has been a key piece of a loaded Tigers pitching staff this spring, now up to 16.0 innings across four starts, allowing just 8 ER and 4 BB while striking out 19 as St. X continues to face a challenging schedule. His ability to compete and throw strikes consistently has made him a reliable option on the mound and one of the most competitive mound presences in the state. The Air Force commit impressed at this year’s Future Games at LakePoint, where he ran his fastball over 90mph, pairing it with a firm changeup and a sharp slider with spin rates north of 2500 rpm. With another big week ahead, including a marquee matchup against top-seeded rival Trinity, Reed and St. Xavier will look to keep the momentum rolling amid a 7 game win streak. Congratulations to Jakob Reed on being named the Prep Baseball KY Pitcher of the Week! |
